Aya Aryan

Aya Aryan is a Barnard College of Columbia University student majoring in Environmental Science and minoring in Italian. Her passion for environment and ecology has shaped her academic journey and career aspirations. Aya has gained valuable research experience at several prestigious institutions, including UC Irvine, Concordia University, and Columbia University. She has focused her research on arthropod ecology and environmental conservation. In addition to her academic work, she has been actively involved in various volunteer initiatives, such as childhood cancer research and supporting victims of domestic violence. Aya plans to continue her studies and pursue a PhD in Ecology upon graduating in 2025. Aya was born in San Diego, California, and grew up in Fresno, where she attended Clovis North High School. From an early age, she showed a keen interest in the environment and science, which inspired her to excel academically. Her hard work earned her a spot on the Principal’s Honor Roll and placed her in the top 5% of her class, graduating with a 4.6 GPA. In 2021, she began her studies at Barnard College, quickly establishing herself as a dedicated student. Aya has maintained a strong academic record, consistently appearing on the Dean’s List and maintaining a GPA of 3.7. Her college experience has also included opportunities to travel abroad. In 2022, she participated in a study abroad program in Perugia, Italy, where she honed her Italian language skills and immersed herself in Italian culture. The following year, she studied Environmental Science from a marine ecology perspective in Bermuda, further expanding her knowledge and understanding of environmental issues.
