CHINESE COOKING Chinese cooking is one of the oldest cooking traditions in the world and also one of the most varied. Solid food is eaten by means of chop sticks and soup with a wide, shallow spoon, usually made of ceramics. As it is considered barbaric in China to have knives at the table, the food in China is often served in smaller pieces which are suitable for eating with chop sticks. Contrary to western food, in which protein from meat constitutes the main part of a meal, carbs in the form of rice, steamed bread or noodles are the key part of a Chinese meal. Inspired by the Chinese culture, we have created our own restaurant concept which, in interaction with our guests and our surroundings, is to develop new fusion dishes and exciting experiences involving the best of the Greenlandic and Chinese food traditions and brilliant, local produce.

A Cantonese saying goes like this: “Any animal with its back against the sky is edible”. Cantonese cooking involves pork, beef, chicken and nearly anything edible. Including snakes, snails, insects, worms, chicken feet, duck tongues, cow tripe and intestines to name but a few. Dogs are eaten in China, but it is an uncommon and not particularly widespread custom. The practise is, in fact, prohibited in Hong Kong and soon also in Taiwan. We do not have dog on our menu. However, we have spotted many similarities between the good old Chinese traditions and our Greenlandic culture.
