on first followed by the more intricate pieces.' My studio stands on a 1,000 square metre area hidden away in the second largest city on Cebu Island – Mandaue. Cebu is sheltered at the geographical centre of the Philippines. It is a long thin island, with a mountain range running down the centre. The tropical climate nurtures an array of rich vegetation and flora – much of which plays an important part in the life of the locals. Of course the hubbub of saws,

From the old TV Show that resulted in hilarious answers!
Q. Do female frogs croak? A. Paul Lynde: If you hold their little heads under water long enough. Q. If you're going to make a parachute jump, at least how high should you be? A. Charley Weaver: Three days of steady drinking should do it.
Q. True or False, a pea can last as long as 5,000 years... A. George Gobel: Boy, it sure seems that way sometimes.
Q. You've been having trouble going to sleep. Are you probably a man or a woman? A.. Don Knotts: That's what's
hammers, axes and an air compressor rules the working day as I, alongside nine assistants, work on several projects. My tools are primarily hand-held. I have a chain-saw and specialised angle grinder bits, however, my tools of choice are an axe, a saw and my chisels, which I use to mould the inside contours of the driftwood to fit the underlying profile of the piece I am making. Each piece of driftwood is either bolted, screwed or nailed using stainless steel components onto the base frame and I use pneumatic tools for this part. My assistants are artists in their own right – trained by me over the course of a number of years. Most of them are the sons of carpenters who have themselves worked for me for over twenty years in my finefurniture carpentry shop. Ideas come and go and when a good one pops into mind I will make initial drawings and studies of the piece, pouring hours of research into gaining an understanding of the animal and its habitat. I find myself drawn to movement ... a stag galloping along open ground, two foxes playing, a stallion rearing up in fright as a way of communicating vitality and drama to the sculpture. Once I feel comfortable

Q. According to Cosmopolitan, if you meet a stranger at a party and you think that he is attractive, is it okay to come out and ask him if he's married? A.. Rose Marie: No wait until morning.

Q. As you grow older, do you tend to gesture more or less with your hands while talking? A. Rose Marie: You ask me one more growing old question Peter, and I'll give you a gesture you'll never forget. Q. Paul, why do Hell's Angels wear leather? A. Paul Lynde: Because chiffon wrinkles too easily. Q. Charley, you've just decided to grow strawberries. Are you going to get any during the first year? A. Charley Weaver: Of course not, I'm too busy growing strawberries.
with the piece, I will draw the final study which I will use as a reference in making a full sized plywood template of the subject. From there we weld a stainless steel frame which takes a couple of days to make and numerous revisions to correct. I try my absolute best to identify proportional mistakes before the hard work begins mistakes in the frame generally become noticeable once the piece is finished, which means a total rework. Once the frame is as good as I can get it we start to attach large pieces of driftwood onto the stainless steel frame, bolting them securely into place. Onto this I then screw a second layer of driftwood, taking great care to select the driftwood that matches the flow of the muscles and body. The whole process can take thousands of hours.
the 150kg very dense driftwood base was wheeled into place on a custom built carriage that I had made back home in my studio. With the base on its side, the 40cm long, 3cm Ø stainless steel bolts that extend from Arteius' hooves were inserted into the locating holes in the base, and the nuts were screwed into place.
Young children are especially appreciative of my art! Not yet of the age where showing interest is totally uncool, young heads will do a 180 swing, locked onto the sculpture as we drive by.
My large scale outdoor sculptures are built on a 6-9cm Ø stainless steel tubular base, designed to embed into the ground, onto four pre-cemented blocks (not supplied!). Straps
Five of us lifted the sculpture upright and the last job was to offer up the antlers into place. Artemis, a stately mare glancing right, was next up for delivery. Although Jersey is only 20km from side to side you can get lost on its myriad small country lanes and the next stop, all of 5 km away as the bird flies, took an hour to reach.
Delivering my sculptures to destination turns into a massive ego trip. If being noticed is your "thing", try strapping a horse onto the back of your pick-up. It works every time.
Artemis was winched into her final resting place in a green field soon to be orchard, to the absolute fury of the resident black labrador, who lunged and retreated and barked his opposition to this intrusion into his territory!
Installing the sculpture was still a tricky affair. First off,

Q. If you were pregnant for two years, what would you give birth to? A. Paul Lynde: Whatever it is, it would never be afraid of the dark.. Q. According to Ann Landers, is there anything wrong with getting into the habit of kissing a lot of people? A. Charley Weaver: It got me out of the army. Q. Back in the old days, when Great Grandpa put horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do? A. George Gobel: Get it in his mouth.

Jackie Gleason recently revealed that he firmly believes in them and has actually seen them on at least two occasions. What are they? A. Charley Weaver: His feet. Q. According to Ann Landers, what are two things you should never do in bed? A. Paul Lynde: Point and laugh! Celibacy
What is Celibacy? Celibacy can be a choice in life, or a condition imposed by circumstances.
While attending a Marriage Weekend, Frank and his wife Ann listened to the instructor declare, “It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other.” He then addressed the men.
“Can you name and describe your wife's favorite flower?” Frank leaned over, touched Ann’s arm gently, and whis-
