Linda Villanova parked her 12-year old Toyota Corolla two blocks from her home in Vista, CA., grabbed her groceries and trudged toward her rented California bungalow. It had been a long, disturbing day. At work, her boss said the rumors that the restaurant was laying off kitchen help could be true, but hoped it wasn’t, still she needed to be alert that change could happen. dentist was pleasant, but insistent when she told Linda that both daughters needed braces, that Lilianna would require expensive oral surgery beforehand.
As Linda prepared supper her fears mounted. What if her car broke down? Again. How would she get to work? What if Carlos lost his landscaping job? What if the landlord raised their rent? We need more money, Linda thought. How could she make that happen? Linda had noticed Carlos’ pickup parked on the grass near the garage
when she came into the house. As usual, it was loaded with large bundles of grass trimmings, scrub cuttings and leaves. He’d empty the truck on his way to work tomorrow morning.
After supper, Linda helped the girls with their homework, saw to their baths and tucked them into bed. She had a nagging feeling about the truck as she did the evening dishes and prepared the table for breakfast. She emptied coffee grounds into the big jar so she could spread it on her roses later. Then it hit her. Suddenly, she knew how to make more income.
Smiling, she called, “Carlos, come join me outside, please.” Perplexed, Carlos followed her to his truck. Linda took his hand. “See my new business?” Carlos shook his head. “What do you mean?”
Linda laughed. “Tonight, we’ll lay cardboard on the grass. Tomorrow morning you’ll un-load your truck on it. We’ll add water and lime and stir it every so often. That way the cuttings will decompose faster. Then, we’ll package the compost

A million-dollar business was born at that time. Over the next year, Linda’s Top Soil and Mulch, became a favorite of landscapers, home gardeners, and others. Compost bins soon replaced the brush pile, Linda producing 100 five-pound bags of rich compost a month. Within six months, her daughters had the dental work they needed, and Linda replaced her Corolla with a more serviceable car. Not to be left out, Carlos started his own landscape business, making his rounds in a shiny, new pickup. When abuela passed away, Linda had the resources to return her grandmother’s body to the family cemetery in Bakersfield, thanks to Linda’s inspiration to search for and use her existing resources, those in her own back yard.
NIMBYism is in full cry these days, i.e., a much-needed homeless shelter is shouted down because it’s too close to an elementary school; residents lobby against a neighborhood skate park since, “it would draw undesirable teen agers and gang members to our community;” a low-income housing project is cancelled after local resident’s yell, “Not In My Back Yard.” This article presents a different viewpoint on back yards. Several members did not approve of her extracurricular activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence. She made a mistake, however, when she accused Frank, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon. She emphatically told Frank (and several others) that everyone seeing it there WOULD KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING!
Frank, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned and walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny. He said nothing.

She met her husband Stan on a bus in London as he vacationed from his job as a San Diego city bus driver. After a two-year trans-ocean courtship, they married and moved to Mira Mesa near Stan’s parents.
Stan’s father died unexpectedly, forcing the couple to become his mother’s care giver. They moved into her three-bedroom house and soon filled it with the pit-a-patter of four little ones. Reflecting on her present lifestyle Rachel quickly points out it wasn’t financial difficulties alone that caused her to start her herb garden. “Our oldest son, Ralph, suffered terribly from allergies,” she says. “We tried every conceivable remedy. Honey from local bees. Flonase. Any purported cure, no matter how ridiculous, we bought it. Nothing worked. Then one day a neighborhood lady suggested I try mallow. I’d never heard of it.
“I Googled it and found mallow listed as a cure for respiratory complaints. But finding a reliable supply was almost impossible. Finally, after several potential suppliers failed us, I sent off to Ferry and Morse for seeds and planted them in a strip of dirt behind the house. Green shoots came up in 5 days. When they were maybe 4 inches his pickup in front of Mildred's house ... walked home ... and left it there all night. You gotta love Frank!

She started researching herbs, and learned that St. John’s Wort, a leafy, green plant was effective in relieving depression. And like mallow, it was hard to come by in the original plant form. She immediately planted three rows behind her house, so she’d have enough to sell at local swap meets and farmer’s markets.
Her research led to Creeping Charlie, an herb known to have a positive effect on a number of maladies from speeding recovery from colds, to treating headaches and as a detoxifier to purge bodies after drug and alcohol use. The demand for these herbs led Rachel to add to her inventory. Soon she sold plantain, an easy-togrow herb, which in tea form soothes infant colic and as a poultice helps reduce the effects of sunburn, rashes and inflammations; and is effective as a hay fever remedy as well. Rachel’s stable of backyard herbs grew quickly. Burdock was next - a spiky herb with roots used in traditional Asian cooking. It is also a tasty medicine to control appetites and build red blood cells. Her biggest seller however became a low-growing herb with an appealing purple flower called Self-Heal,
Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So, you ask, how much money has Rachel realized from her backyard herb garden? This past twelve months she reports a net earning a little north of $39,000 - after deducting swap meet and farmer’s market booth rentals. Not bad for a fun, part-time business. But, Rachel doesn’t judge her success by money alone. She’s prouder of the number of people she’s helped. “I wanted my herbs to help people the way mallow helped my son when I started my garden. That’s still my intent.” *** Donald Nguyen is a Vietnamese refugee who migrated to California shortly after the fall of Saigon. His first job was with a printer, where he worked long hours running a machine that folded, inserted and sorted letters. On his breaks Nguyen watched with fascination as a co-worker planted seeds in flower pots just outside the printing house

In a hospital, a bunch of the relatives gathered in the waiting room where a family member lay, gravely ill. Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber. "I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news," he said as he surveyed the worried faces. "The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant. It's an experimental procedure, very risky, but it is the only hope. Insurance will cover the procedure, but you will have to pay for the BRAIN."
The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a time, someone asked, 'How much will a brain cost?' The doctor quickly responded, “$5,000 for a Democrat's brain and $200 for a Republican's.”
The moment turned awkward. Some of the Democrat relatives actually had to 'try' to not smile, avoiding eye contact with the Republican relatives.

door. When the plants were 4 to 5 inches high, he’d sell them to nurseries. One day at lunch, Nguyen overheard a conversation between a Chinese cook and a restaurant owner. The gist was, unless they could find a more reliable, cheaper supplier of Chinese vegetables the restaurant would close. Nguyen asked a few questions, then hurried to Home Depot and purchased several large pots, took then to his apartment, filled them with dirt and planted Bok Choy (pok choy, or bok choi.) In another pot he planted kale. Six weeks later when these plants matured, Nguyen snipped them carefully, wrapped them in white paper and made his way to the restaurant. They gladly paid him his asking price and ordered more for the following week.
With his profits, Nguyen bought more pots, soil and seed, planting bok choy and fast-growing kale. Using a computer at the library, he located several community gardens and visited them. He found eager growers of Chinese vegetables who sold him their fresh choy sum, (vegetable heart), snow peas, Chinese radishes, zucchini and baby corn. Nguyen in turn sold these to restaurants. Thus, a thriving business was born.

Today, Nguyen buys Chinese vegetables from some thirty growers, selling fresh goods to fifty restaurants throughout the San Diego area. He recently bought a twentyacre plot of land near Julian where he intends to plant burdock, choy sum and zucchini.
A well-known business axiom is, find a need and fill it. That’s the secret of David Nguyen’s success. (And Rachel Rootes back yard herb garden and Linda Villanova’s compost business,) Nguyen uncovered a need and started right where he stood with what available tools he had at the time, to solve that need. In the end, he profited handsomely from his actions. *** When Virgil Kramer checked into the Sober Living Facility, Jim Childers the manager, and Wayne Hightower, the assistant manager, were in for a wild ride. A freshlyminted alcoholic just 6 weeks from his last drunk, Virgil had been a successful insurance broker before his drinking and drugging spiraled out of control and sent him into bankruptcy.
Standing 5 feet 2 inches in his black trousers, white open-throated shirt and polished brogans, his full red beard reaching his chest, his snapping black eyes taking in every sight, Virgil made his presence known at his very first House Meeting. (This was before corporations learned they could earn vast profits in drug and alcohol recovery.)

Three sober drunks had purchased the three-bedroom, singlestory house with the idea of providing alcoholics a relatively stressfree environment and time needed to recover. The owners paid the mortgage, the utilities and salaries of the manager and assistant manager. These funds were supposed to come from the fees the ten house members paid - $200 or $300 a month – based on need. Social Security and insurance company pay outs were still a year or two away. Inevitably, there is many a slip between cup and lip. Often, the hoped-for funds from residents did not materialize. This meant funds for groceries, laundry, landscaping and other services had to be raised by the residents.
Kramer was aghast at Hightower’s report. “I came here to sober up, not worry about what and when I’ll eat.” Kramer also bridled at the house rule where every resident had to be up and out by eight o’clock each morning, but he zeroed in on Hightower’s statement that the house would sponsor their usual twice monthly car wash that weekend.

The next morning when Manager Childers reported for work at 6 o’clock, Hightower told him of Kramer’s comments. Childers laughed. “Ah, newcomers. How would the world run without them?” A few minutes later, Kramer came into the kitchen. “Hey guys,” he said, “I’ve been thinking.”
Childers and Hightower braced themselves. Kramer stepped over to the kitchen window. “Look out. What do you see?” Childers said, “Houses.”
Kramer said, “What else?”
Hightower refused to play the game. “Get serious man.”
Kramer said, “One of the keys to getting rich is to see things others don’t. What else do you see?”
“Trees,” Childers said. “Lots of trees.” “What kind of trees?’

On June 25, at 11:04 a.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department was called to a traffic collision that occurred in the 3700 block of southbound College Boulevard.

Arriving officers found that a 64year-old male from Carlsbad was driving a 2011 Lexus sedan southbound on College Boulevard when he suffered a debilitating medical emergency, lost control of his vehicle and struck a bicyclist in the bike lane, prior to colliding with an electrical box. The Fire Department responded and transported the 64-year-old male driver to an area hospital. The 16-year-old bicyclist was also transported to an area hospital for minor injuries.

It happened just after 4:00 p.m. on May 23rd at a home in the 600 block of Via Rancho Parkway. That's where the man in the sketch posed as a water district employee and contacted the homeowner. The suspect told the victim he needed to come inside the home to inspect the plumbing. Once inside, the suspect lured the victim to the backyard and distracted him. That's when another suspect went into the house and stole the victim's valuables.

Man About Town My Time Machine
I've decided to focus at least 20% of my daily activities on inventing a time-travel machine. Once perfected, I'd like to go back to when I was about 35 years old (retaining, of course, all of the vast knowledge I have since accumulated over the ages), and about 50 lbs lighter. (I have zero interest in going back to when I was 18 or so).
I would incorporate the ability to be visible or invisible, my option, so that I could, for example, go back to the time of Hitler and, while invisible, hit him in the face with an axe. Goering, too. And Eichmann. I would go back to the time of Ghengis Khan and ask that he try to be a little nicer and more considerate of his fellow man.

I would probably spend even more time with my two sons. We had a good father/sons relationship . . . but I could have done even better. I probably should have encouraged them more. Who knows what they might have accomplished? I would go back and listen in on all of the war planning activities . . . on the plans for the Normandy Invasion . . . on the discussions when Harry Truman decided to drop the A-Bomb. So many things I would like to do . . . if only I could hurry up and finish this here invention.
I know! I'll buy a couple bottles of wine and a case of beer and we can all get together this weekend and work on the invention together! And, yes, I'll give each one of you a ride in our time machine.

Dog named Colby was adopted five years ago. Colby was happy. Then the lady who adopted Colby died and the family trusted Rancho Coastal Humane to find a new home. Cute little mutt. I reckon he’ll find a home quickly. But that brings up a subject we don’t think about often enough. Most of us have prepared living trusts and/or wills but what provisions have we made for the pets in our life?

Rather than informal arrangemetns, which can be misunderstood, it’s always best to reduce your wishes to writing and get a signed commitment from someone that they are ready, willing and able to care for your pet if and when you pass away. It’s just good planning and it’s also compassionate planning, knowing how much your pet is going to miss you after you are gone and that you have taken the necessary steps to see to their continued happy life. Something to think about and begin planning for. Fido will appreciate it forever!

Often riches come to those who see opportunity in the mundane. *** Claire Wagers is 87 years young. She still lives in the house she and her husband Henry built in 1969. Henry passed away in 1990. They had no children, so when Claire learned that Henry’s pension from his 40 years as an assembler at an automotive plant would be cut in half, Claire knew it was up to her to find a way to replace her lost income.

Claire got up and went to the window. The restaurant owner’s car was parked in his driveway. She grabbed her pad and went outside. When she was close enough to see the phone number clearly, she jotted it down. Back inside, she dialed the number and left a brief message and her number as the computerized voice told her to do. She hung up and returned to her list. Since renting her room was not an option, maybe she could sign up for Airbnb but that too seemed impractical. How about renting out space in her yard for RV’s to park? She’d heard there was a need for that.
After lunch, Claire called her bridge-playing ladies and confirmed they were coming as usual on Wednesday. When her phone rang, she figured it was Sarah telling her what goodies she’d bring to bridge. Instead, it was her neighbor, the Chinese restaurant owner. Was she interested in renting a spot in her yard where his son could install a water-filled vat to grow fish in? “Yes,” she said. “In fact, my water hydrants are still in place and they work just fine.” *** The Universe abhors a vacuum. The amazing thing is, once we recognize a need and seek to fill it, it’s almost as if the Gods agree and align the stars so that everything needed falls into place. As the man said, every job seems impossible until it’s finished. A good place to look for solutions to problems is in your own back yard.

Reflecting back in time when I was 16 years old and had been driving for three years, my dad sent my mother and me to a neighboring town 60 miles away to pick up a new car for our dealership from a like brand dealer. The trip was on a good safe paved road in good weather during a nice time of day, with little traffic. My mother was semi dozing in the passenger seat when she remarked to me and I quote, “Step on it. We have to get there.” Looking down at the speedometer we were cruising at a ‘wide open speed” of 100 mph! That’s a true story. I grew up in a speed loving family.

It was still in the forties after World War II when automobile manufacturers were still playing catch up. Most cars were very prosaic and were equipped with the bare necessities and austere design. Helping Our Local Citrus Economy
California's fresh-market citrus producers are working hard to prevent being affected by a disease called Huanglongbing, (HLB) or citrus greening disease. The disease, for which there is no known cure, is spread by an invasive pest known as the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP), an aphid-sized insect that first appeared in our state in 2008.
Since our region is a high producer of citrus, this is a concern for our growers and our local economy. Disease symptoms include asymmetrical yellow mottling on leaves, hard fruit that is bitter and doesn’t ripen, along with excessive fruit drop. The disease is devastating. In just 10 years Florida has lost approximately 162,000 citrus acres. It is estimated that 90% of Florida citrus acres are infected. Mexico is heavily impacted, and the disease is quickly spreading in Texas. Unfortunately, with the ACP insect present in 24 California Counties, our $3.3 billion citrus industry could easily suffer the same fate.
HLB has now been found in over 500 residential citrus trees in Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside Counties, placing the nearby citrus groves and nurseries of Riverside and San Diego Counties at serious risk.
Given the importance of the citrus industry to our state and region, I and several Assembly colleagues urgently requested an additional appropriation of $10 million to combat the psyllid and the spread of HLB. I’m pleased to report that the request was granted and the additional funding was included in the budget that was signed into law on June 27.
Thanks to foresight and funding from growers and state and federal governments, research will continue to find a cure and to breed new citrus varieties that will be able to resist this terrible threat to ornamental citrus trees and to California’s vital citrus industry.

Is this funny rumor true and can you verify the colorful details? Editor’s Note: Reasonably close to an accurate account. This was not, however, ‘Cruisin Grand,” it was just “Cruisin’” The location was East Valley Parkway with much of the activity taking place in front of the old Escondido Village Mall.
Yes, I managed KOWN Radio which was located in the mall. But I wasn’t the one who promoted it on the air; it was the brain child of the late Clip Helps, our Program Director. He got the idea from the movie “American Graffiti.” He talked about it on the air and thought we’d get a dozen or more cars to respond. We got hundreds! Then Lieutenant John Wilson, since reteired, and a long time friend, stopped by my house and invited me to ride along and see what was happening. I spent the rest of the evening with him. Some party-goers were spraying shaving cream on the windshields of motorists - a definite safety hazard. There were several arrests.

If you were asked who the third Vice President of the United States was, few would know it was Aaron Burr. Wait a minute -- didn’t he shoot and kill our first Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton in a duel?
Hamilton prominently takes his place in history as founder of what today is the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Mint, and with his picture on the $20 bill. Conversely, Aaron Burr’s bio is found in very few school history books, primarily because of his 1807 duel with founding father Hamilton.

The third big question we were bantering around at Vinz's outdoor patio area is, what does the "E" of your middle name stand for? Guesses so far have been: Edward or variation of that, Eric, Ethan, Earl, Evan, and Emmett. Be careful with your answer because we all have a friendly money pool on the correct answer! Editor’s Note: lyle eugene davis; my mom, in a fit of creativity, named me lyle eugene davis and my baby brother . . . eugene lyle davis. Dad never said a word.
Then the two men became founding bankers. Burr founded the Bank of Manhattan Company, which today is JP Morgan-Chase. Hamilton founded rival Bank of New York, making them bitter political and business competitors. It’s the fame duel that caused Burr to be banished to near historical obscurity. What caused the duel is a matter of conjecture. One of the reasons could be Hamilton’s vicious rumors. The two men were often invited to dinner parties hosted by leading New York politicians, businessmen and even each other. During those years, Burr was widowed and lived with his daughter and husband. Hamilton reportedly suggested at a social gathering that Burr committed incest with his daughter. Enraged, the Vice President challenged the Treasury Secretary to a duel in Weehawken, N.J., as dueling was illegal in New York State. Hamilton was mortally wounded, dying a day later. Hamilton’s death destroyed Burr’s political, social, and business career and standing. Years later, Burr traveled west to embark upon what was an alleged attempt to form a new nation, for which he was charged with treason, but later was acquitted.

Burr had an illustrious war record, serving during the Revolutionary War under Gen. Benedict Arnold in the Quebec expedition. Burr distinguished himself in that battle earning a place on Gen. George Washington’s staff. But, after only two weeks, he asked for a transfer back to the battlefield.

In battle, Burr saved an entire brigade, which included Hamilton, from capture after the British landed on Manhattan. Evidently miffed because Burr had resigned from his staff, Washington did not commend Burr for his heroic actions. This led to an eventually estrangement between the two men. In 1777, Burr was promoted to lieutenant colonel, assuming command of a regiment. During the harsh winter at Valley Forge, Burr led a small unit guarding an isolated pass. He drove back an attempted mutiny by troops who wanted to escape the Valley Forge winter. In 1779, Burr had to leave the Army due to bad health, but he remained active in the War. He was assigned by Washington to perform occasional intelligence missions. During one of those missions, Burr rallied a group of Yale students in New Haven, Conn., to aid a small group of soldiers in a skirmish with the British. This action repelled the enemy’s advance, forcing them to retreat.

Capital Improvement Program Budget
There are several financial documents approved by the City Council that determine public investments in services (provided by employees) and goods (tangible assets you can point at). The primary planning document for spending on tangible items is called the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget. This budget is my favorite because it validates current needs and anticipates future needs for items like new 619.299.7012.

It also states that Congress will not exercise control over these freedoms, implying that any elected representatives, including the President, cannot.
We, as citizens, regard such freedoms as our right to say what we feel, believe what we want, and write as we wish, always taking into consideration any dishonest, immoral, or profane comments. We shall not be threatened by our elected

officials to silence us, degrade us, deny us, or even restrict us with any office of government such as the FBI, CIA, or IRS. However, political officials don’t always follow these principles. At times, they can become insecure, arrogant, paranoid, and self-serving, using their power to deny us these freedoms. When a nation of citizens allows such abuses, it deserves to be ruled by an autocrat or dictator. Such has happened many times in the history of nations. Hopefully, we are responsible in protecting our freedoms of speech, religion, and the press. We could well heed the words of Martin Niemoller, a German pastor in the days of Nazi Germany, who watched the subtle process of losing freedom. He wrote these prophetic words, “First they came for the Socialists, then they came for the Jews, then they came for me and there was no one left to speak for me.” Any stifling of our basic freedoms by any person or group is a threat to all of us. San Marcos Family Camp Out returns July 28
Set for Saturday, July 28 to Sunday, July 29, the annual San Marcos Family Campout is just around the corner. Offering a convenient, close-to-home camping experience, the campout is complete with outdoor games, arts and crafts, a flashlight hike, campfire songs, a hot dog cookout, s’mores, and breakfast the next morning.
Rain or shine, campers will have a chance to sleep under the stars on the grasses of Walnut Grove Park located at 1950 Sycamore Drive. Each family will be assigned a ten by ten space to pitch their tent and set up camp. Upon arrival, the city’s recreation leaders facilitate field games like tug-o-war, potato

To understand why Microsoft is willing to put users through so much pain, one needs to understand Microsoft’s current situation, problems and strategies as it relates to home users and small businesses. The World is turning away from local processing and applications in favor of Internet or cloud based applications and computing. Microsoft’s core business has always been the sale of PC OS and applications for “local” processing. PCs are slowly being replaced by Internet connected devices that are able to do everything in the cloud that any PC can do locally.
Microsoft’s previous bosses Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer were able to hang on to Microsoft’s dominance in PC applications and OS through shear inertia but Microsoft long ago stopped being a cool or innovative place to work. As a bloated bureaucracy, they failed to recognize the significance of the Internet and mobile computing and communications until long after more agile companies had established a foothold. Even with the advantages of having the OS that ran 90% of the World’s PCs, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Bing were crushed by newcomer Google in the contest to be the leading Internet browser (Chrome) and search engine (Google Search). Late to recognize the importance of “smart phones,” Microsoft bumbled and stumbled losing billions in their abortive attempts to crash the party with the twin disasters of Windows 8 and the purchase of Nokia's smart phone business. Instead of growing,

Save on Life Insurance - Unfortunately, as our age increases so do our premiums for life insurance. In fact, typically the premium amount rises 8-10% for every year of age. For senior citizens, rising life insurance policy costs can add up significantly. Many senior citizens also have a hard time qualifying for a new policy once they reach a certain age. The best way to get the cheapest life insurance policy possible is to compare quotes from multiple carriers in much the same way you would do with car insurance, or cell phone plans. Luckily, there’s a new website called LifeInsurance.net that will automatically use your information to find you the best life insurance policy for your needs at much lower prices. 8. Go Shopping - Banana Republic, Kohl’s, Marshall’s and Stein Mart - You might be surprised to learn that a lot of trendy shops give a senior citizens discount. At Banana Republic, if you over 50-years old you can get a 10% discount at stores, simply by asking for it. At Kohl’s on Wednesdays, over
Microsoft Window’s mobile market share actually dropped from over 3.0% to less than 0.5% between 2014 and 2018. With their traditional business shrinking and their inability to gain a foothold in the growing mobile markets, Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s latest CEO (2014) developed a new and comprehensive survival strategy for his company. The part that interests us is how this strategy affects home and small business PC users. Windows10 is the key.
Microsoft has ceded the mobile market to Google (Android 80%) and Apple (iOS 12%). Windows mobile is dead. CEO Nadella needed a new plan. Since nearly 90% of Android phone users also have a Windows PC., Microsoft reasoned they could use the Windows OS on PCs to develop “cross platform” applications that they could market to Android and IOS (Apple) users. Microsoft today is busily developing applications that will run on non Microsoft platforms. They want Windows to be able to accept input from the non-Microsoft “Internet Ecosystems,” for example to be able to receive and answer a text message while at your PC without needing to grope for your phone. Google made $80 billion in advertising revenue last year; Microsoft’s advertising revenue was around $5 billion. So while Google has direct access to usage patterns through ownership of the browser and search engines, Microsoft must keep redesigning the Windows OS in its effort to glean this information from Google’s browser and search engine. That causes problems. The computer OS is far more complex than an OS or application designed simply for Internet access like Android, Chrome or Google search. A PC OS like Windows must be able to manage all the computer functions like memory, storage, applications, drivers and a host of other functions. Using an unwieldy OS like Windows to try to steal information from ever evolving Internet access applications is like chasing a butterfly through a china shop with a sledge hammer. It’s hard to avoid damaging the merchandise. Microsoft will keep redesigning Windows10 in order to collect the browsing data needed to feed their artificial intelligence engines so they can monetize you. The continuing “updates” will continue to cause problems. Microsoft thinks you will continue to grin and bear it because you have no alternatives. They are wrong. If Microsoft’s “weaponized” Windows 10 drives you up the wall you have several options. You can hunker down with Windows7 and turn off the automatic updates or go all in on the WWW with a Chromebook. The last two we call the nuclear options and are equally unpleasant,
