Sports Direct has opened its five-floor Manchester as its flagship store, powered by inurface media’s innovative AV solutions. The extravaganza of displays, LEDs, and interactive tech has transformed the retail unit into an awe-inspiring experiential shopping hub, creating the ultimate destination for consumers. Within the store, consumers can form a deeper connection with Sports Direct and the individual brands within the store using interactive AV solutions.

TVC is a division of the TVD Group, which has recently become employee owned, and is a leading UK provider in audio visual solutions on both commercial and domestic fronts.
In keeping with the themed venue concept, the installed AV and display technologies needed to allow game participants and spectators to fully engage in the F1 Arcade Hub, interactively accessing games, purchase exclusive products and access VIP experiences. The AV install list includes displays for in-game telemetry, pit wall screens showing race data, and a large LED video wall at the top of the internal stairs. In addition to the F1 action, the installation also involved large commercial and LED displays for live 4K feed content from Sky and BT Sports channels around the venue, and an eye-catching LG 86” UHD large screen display in the prestigious private dining area.
The resulting venue has set the blueprint for F1’s roll-out of F1 Arcade’s globally, with TVC advising on the imminent USA venue project. “The F1 Arcade has been an amazing project to work on,” adds Lucia, “and we feel very proud to have been an integral part of bringing this ground-breaking concept to life. The venue looks, sounds and feels spectacular, bristling with the excitement, noise and passion of F1 racing.”
The installation features an impressive 104 individual displays - 29 LCD and 68 LED displays, including the largest fixed indoor screen within a retail store in Manchester! Further adding to the impressive mix so far, the store also contains– 181sqm of LEDs, which is almost enough to fill an entire singles tennis court, as well as five interactive tablets, two projectors, and interactive jump booths. A 22.5sqm COB LED archway welcomes consumers into the store, followed by LED rafts and tickers - the displays comprise 35,841,664 LED pixels, providing a jaw-dropping visual experience. inurface has worked with Sports Direct to create a unique, market-leading destination. The aim of the installation is to engage and inspire consumers, creating a retail experience unlike any other in Manchester. Working in collaboration with design agencies The One Off and EB Designs, we have worked directly with sporting and lifestyle brands including Under Armour, Puma, Adidas, and GAME to provide a mix of AV solutions. “We also worked directly with Nike to provide interactive activations, like the jump booth –originally created for the Sports Direct Oxford Street Flagship,” inurface media’s sister company, We Are Xi, have installed 2 interactive experiences in the store to encourage direct customer and brand engagement.
Clear-Com Senior regional sales Southern Europe
Clear-Com has announced the appointment of Nicola Milburn as Senior Regional Sales Manager for Southern Europe.
Nicola brings 16 years of technical sales experience and a background in test engineering across a broad range of markets to her new role at Clear-Com.
Nicola previously spent ten years as Regional Sales Manager for UK and Europe at PHABRIX, where she focused on the Broadcast sector and helped transition customers to IP-based systems, often doing the training and demos herself.

“Nicola’s unique dual experience as both an engineer and salesperson makes her a valuable asset to Clear-Com,” said Richard Palmer, Director of Sales for Europe, Middle East, and Africa. “We are pleased to have her aboard to help us strengthen our business in Southern Europe and Benelux.”
Nicola is eager to begin representing the Clear-Com brand and supporting partners to develop customized solutions for customers.
“Being involved in so many different types of applications and systems is so fascinating to me,” Nicola says. “Every single one is a different workflow, and I look forward to the challenge of finding the right fit for each set of requirements. Clear-Com has such a good history of being the first in something, of innovating from an engineering perspective. I’m excited to be here.”
Nicola holds a HNC in Electrical & Electrical Engineering from Exeter College. She is also an
Ambassador for STEM, volunteers with the Rise Up Academy, and was shortlisted in the Sales Category for the 2022 Rise Awards. In her spare time, she loves outdoor adventures with her husband and their Jack Russell mix rescue dog, Kingston.
