The New York Collection Beach / Business Handbags by Jordan Cappella

Custom orders www.jordancappella.com Photgraphed by Costas Voniatis | Model Yekta Nikou

The New York Collection I designed these bags from outdoor fabrics and Vinyl. The beauty with these particular fabrics is that you can literally hose them out after a day at the beach. I thought they were great to take from business to the beach.. or week to weekend. I was inspired by a Manhattan career women, who was heading to the Hampton’s directly from the office on a Friday afternoon . I would love to do more fashion design in the near future.

A

n inspiring story of determination and drive to be the best you can be. My desire to inspire and help others to live the best life they can stems from my own experiences. In 2008- 2009.. My life had become so overwhelming to me that I truly started to believe I had peaked in my late 20’s early 30’s. I had packed on 40 lbs and was living in a friends converted garage and sleeping on a couch. To make matter worse, I was around 40k in debt and scared my life was never going to turn around. Until one morning I woke up and decided this was not how I wanted to live. I took control of my life. I got a job and though it took a few years, I paid off all of my debt, got my own Apartment and gave up drinking and smoking. Lastly, I committed to the gym 5 days a week.

It’s hard to beleive this is the same Jordan Cappella 40 lbs overweight.

The next thing you know ..I am about to turn 40 years old and being cast on the hit TV Show, “Design Star” for HGTV. Never give up on life or your dreams! You decide who and what you want to be. Jordan has been featured on numerous TV shows including being selected as a finalist for HGTV’s “Design Star” season 7 finalist, Logo TV’s “Pretty Hurt’s” as well as Bravo’s “Millionaire Matchmaker”. Jordan also was the lead man in Kitten Kay Sera’s 1960’s influenced pop tune, SEX KITTEN. Jordan has the ability and the desire to give the gift of inspiration through his relentless quest of making others happy with his designs that come from the heart. www.facebook.com/pages/Jordan-Cappella-Design/120114708041115 www.twitter.com/jordancappella

Jordan is a dynamic furniture designer and interior decorator, Most recently seen on HGTV Design Star. He grew up in Sydney, marketing his family’s beauty salon chain, and cultivated his career in New York at Tod’s as the National Sales Manager, then as Director for its sister-company, Hogan. His experience within the venerable leather goods house imprinted the timeless elegance and clean, but charismatic, aesthetic that are so much part of Jordan Cappella’s designs. In his free time, Jordan would often design specialty furniture pieces for his friends, as design was always his first and foremost love. Jordan’s design dream became actualized after a successful launch of his first collection in Australia. He decided to merge the quality details of high fashion into his designs and his company philosophy was born. Jordan has drawn inspirations from Sydney, New York, Los Angeles, Paris and Milan where he has worked with some of the most renowned designers and textile mills of the fashion world. Those artisan qualities and ethics are integrated in the craftsmanship of his line: Every piece of furniture is custom-made with individual details that create a true bond with its owner. In 2010 Jordan successfully created and launched a candle collection made from all-natural coconut blend. Jordan is now proud to offer you two fragrances from his home collection.

The Good Shepherd Project

The Downtown LA Good Shepherd homeless shelter is where Jordan designed this elegant and inviting room. What an honor and such a great project to work on.

“Sometimes you need to help others to realize just how lucky you are. says Jordan.

The Good Shepherd Project was organized by Interior designer Vanessa De Vargas. www.turquoise-la.com

One of my favorite design projects thus far was designing a room for the Good Shepherd Center. My friend and Interior Designer, Vanessa de Vargas asked if I would like to sign on with 27 other Los Angeles designers to help out. I was so impressed with this program that I didn’t hesitate and signed on immediately! The homeless are actually interviewed to show their commitment to improving their lives. Once accepted, this program helps give these applicants the tools and knowledge to take care of themselves and their families. Helping those that are helping themselves! Everything, from the paint to the bedding, were donated for this special project. Several businesses and good samaritans sponsored the materials. Confirming just how kind and generous mankind can be. The mission of Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women and Children is to empower women and their children to move from homelessness to self-sufficiency, through housing, employment and support services offered with dignity and love. Designer and Host Jordan Cappella shoots his own Pilot Presen-

tation for Baby Nursery Makeover.

The inspiration behind the design was old Hollywood Glamour. I wanted to create a space that both Mum and Dad would feel comfortable in. I choose green for the walls as it was their favorite color. The parents were also waiting to see if they were having a boy or a girl. I loved the challenge of creating a nursery that is non gender specific.

Capturing the Essence of Beauty Modeled by: Kate Kelton Photographed by: Freddie B Photography Our model for this editorial, Kate Kelton, is an actress and artist. Her unforgettable role in cult-classic, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle (2004), cemented her love of the craft after her print and commercials beginnings in Toronto, Canada where she was the world’s first non-blond “Tic Tac Girl”, in an enormously popular campaign that aired for almost a decade. However, you may recognize her from one of her more recent roles in IFC’s Bullet in the Face or the SyFy Channel’s tv series Haven. Kate’s art consists of ink drawings and paintings, some of which are digitally manipulated for printing. Besides exhibiting her artwork internationally, Kate was also published as a contributing author in ‘Making It in High Heels: Inspiring Stories by Women for Women of All Ages’ (BurmanBooks Inc.). This gorgeous and accomplished woman is surely on a path towards a bright future. Fashion Stylist, TNT Tauna, has worked with Kate before and interviewed her about her personal style. Here’s what she had to say, “When I wear black I feel like it’s a jumping off point for my personality because the absence of all color creates the perfect void for me to BE the color.” With this in mind, Tauna knew that Phyllisophical was going to be a match made in heaven for Kate’s style because much of the wardrobe they carry comes in variations of Kate’s favorite color. Tauna pre-pulled day to evening looks for Kate and upon her arrival, Kate was immediately drawn to her rack and knew that these were the items Tauna had pulled for her. Tauna looked for the most interesting pieces to style on Kate, the first being an incredible striped dress by Dress to Kill accessorized with a Gerard Yosca broach and Wendy Stevens shoes. Kate appears as a casually elegant shopper in this playful yet sophisticated voluminous dress. For her next look, Tauna built the look around this great Elemente Clemente coat that has a slimming effect due to the way it drapes down the body. Tauna paired it with leggings by Noblu, ring by Monbijou, and an amazing silver cuff by Avant Garde Paris. For Kate’s 3rd look, Tauna went back to Dress to Kill for this killer skirt. A pop of red was added with this cami from AMB Boutique, avant garde crochet sweater by Gala & Kardi, and beads from Phyllisophical. The belt by JoEd created the perfect line for an hourglass silhouette. Next, Kate slipped into this Kedem Sasson dress for a classy evening look adorned with this fabulous brooch necklace by jewelry designer, Twix. In this look, she seems ready for a dinner date complete with a night at the opera. In Kate’s last look, she appears ready for a night out with the girls filled with great drinks and lots of dancing.
