Left Fly in amber by Scott Ginn. This male dolichopodid fly is preserved in Baltic amber (fossilised tree resin) some 40 million years old. The amber preserves fine detail of the specimen such as complex genitalia at the end of its abdomen. Scott’s was one of the top ten images in the 2012 New Scientist Eureka Prize for Science Photography.
