Cynthia Ovonne Young (VON); was born May 9, 1958 in Tuscaloosa Alabama.

Daughter of Charlie Faye Young and Marshall Lee Young.

Mother of Latonya “Tee” Young and Jasmine “Niqua” Smith.

Grandmother of Asia Mitchell, India Clark and Kalli Austin, Great Grandmother of Cameron Hawkins.

Sister of Gwendolyn Young, Christopher L. Young, Sharon “Niecey” Young, Brentoinette Young, Antoinette Young, Cornelius “Conrad” Young, MaryAnne Young, Darrell Jones and Audrey Egypt Young.

Niece of Cleveland Cox Sr, Lorenzo “Red” Cox, Luella Cox Robinson, Tommy Cox, Catherine Evelyn Colbert, Charlie Cox Jr., John Cox, Syvella Cox and Linda Wilson. Aunt of many Nieces and Nephews and a host of cousins.

Cynthia (VON) had the most beautiful smile and everyone who met her loved her. She was a selfless person and used her creative ability to make lasting memories for others. She was “Ma” to ALL and opened her heart and home to anyone in need asking for nothing in return. To know her you would hear her so lovingly say “Jesus Christ” or “Mama Said” to let you know that was it!!!

Her Hobbies were: Braiding, Crocheting, Making Clothes, scrapbooks, just being creative, watching foreign film, listening to her favorite artists: Prince, Michael Jackson, Trey Songz, etc. She also enjoyed watching 85 South Show on Fridays, spending time with her grandchildren, teaching and raising her grandchildren and dressing and doing photo shoots of her grandchildren.

Cynthia was a member of St. James Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by Uncle John Cox. She Graduated from Central High School in 1975 and spent many years cultivating the minds of our youth while working at the Newark Board of Education.

Having worked for Newark Board of Education, in an effort to infuse education love she created the “School of Grandma House” to homeschool her grand and great grand children. In 2011 Cynthia was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma bone cancer, it may have slowed her down a bit but even through all her discomfort she was able reach out to others and hear their problems encourage and cheer them on!!

Face to Face With Christ My Savior Face to face with Christ my Savior,

Face to face--what will it be

When with rapture I behold Him,

Jesus Christ who died for me?

Chorus: Face to face I shall behold Him,

Far beyond the starry sky;

Face to face in all His glory,

I shall see Him by and by!

Only faintly now I see Him

With the darkened veil between,

But a blessed day is coming

When His glory shall be seen.

What rejoicing in His presence,

When are banished grief and pain;

When the crooked ways are straightened

And the dark things shall be plain.

Face to face--oh, blissful moment!

Face to Face – to see and know:
