a message from Dr. Roberts

Welcome to Auburn, home of Auburn University. My family and I have called the Loveliest Village on the Plains home for almost 30 years.

The university enjoys an excellent relationship with the cities of Auburn and Opelika. We work hard together to promote our great community and its residents. From academic endeavors to cultural and athletic events, Auburn has something that appeals to everyone.

Our university is a world-class academic institution, as reflected in our land-grant mission of research, instruction and outreach. The Auburn undergraduate experience is second to none. Our students were recognized in 2022 by The Princeton Review as among the “Happiest Students” in the nation and for attending one of the “Most Loved Colleges.”

The Princeton Review also recognized Auburn for the beauty, safety and friendliness on campus in the “Great Quality of Life” category and for having “Great Athletic Facilities,” which includes our recreational facilities. In 2022, U.S. News & World Report ranked Auburn as one of the top 50 public universities in the nation.

Forbes magazine ranked Auburn as the No. 1 university in its 2022 list of “America’s Best Employers for New Grads.” Auburn ranked No. 15 out of 300 employers on the national list, rating ahead of worldwide companies such as Google, Microsoft, American Express, Lockheed Martin and Delta Air Lines, to name a few. Auburn’s placement on the list is the third time in the past five years that it has been recognized by Forbes as a top employer. In 2021, Auburn was named one of the “Best Employers in Alabama,” and in 2017, it was named one of America’s “Best Midsize Employers.” Auburn is committed to not only delivering a worldclass education for our students, but to providing an exceptional working environment for our employees.

The university strives each day to enhance the lives of our residents and those around the state of Alabama. Our faculty are dedicated to improving lives through research. We are proud to be listed as a Carnegie R1 institution –– a classification reserved for universities engaged in “very high research activity.” This prestigious distinction recognizes Auburn’s role in solving society’s most pressing problems.

Culturally, our university is engaging with city residents through the Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center, which features worldrenowned performances, high-energy concerts and popular Broadway productions. The Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art is one of our state’s leading art museums, offering the community a diverse lineup of compelling exhibitions and educational programming.

In addition, Auburn is home to the best gameday experience in college athletics, and our studentathletes and devoted fans show the world the special spirit that is found here.

Auburn is a city where you can grow professionally, raise a family or retire. Whether you are making this your new home or just visiting, we hope you enjoy your time on the Plains.

War Eagle!
