Firefighter Training It’s a special breed who sign up for a career in courage. As others flee life-threatening situations, firefighters charge ahead armed with skills and knowledge gained through focused training. That’s why training is the key for success as a firefighter. Only training can give your firefighters the competencies they need to be ready for action, while maintaining safety for themselves and their fellow responders. Our comprehensive training library is your information resource where you will find technical material simplified to the basic skills that need to be learned. We offer tools for a broad range of firefighter training.

“Your computer-based training is the greatest educational purchase we've made to date for this department. The materials are designed so the firefighter is mentally engaged prior to starting an instructor-led course which is followed by hands-on training. This system allows our volunteers a time-enriched training atmosphere. With our firefighters better prepared and more engaged, we've achieved outstanding training results.” Brian Romans – Training Manager Bear Creek Volunteer Fire Department - Hubert, NC

Vehicle Extrication Vehicle extrication emergencies are a leading category of response for fire and rescue personnel. Responding to these incidents is inherently dangerous because of vehicle traffic and many other hazardous conditions. Both the patient and responders’ lives depend on solid, up-to-date training in incident management, basic operational procedures and knowledge of tools and techniques used to complete an efficient and effective extrication. It’s critical that emergency responders are aware of hazards and how to control them at an extrication scene. Familiarity and knowledge of equipment use and of new vehicle technology is key to rescuer safety. To help instructors meet these challenges, we have expanded our Vehicle Extrication series with new programs on hybrid and electric vehicles, advanced steel and alternative techniques for situations when the team must extricate trapped patients without hydraulic rescue tools.

Teaches to the current NFPA® 1001, 1006 and 1670 standards.

First On Scene INITIAL FIRE SCENE SIZE-UP SERIES

Interactive, Scoreable...

Computer-Based Simulation Courses Each course in this series takes the student through the first critical minutes of the initial size-up of a fire scene relating to a particular building type. Students are presented with conditions and background information for an incident, shown a simulation of the incident including approach shots and a 360 of the building and then asked questions about their initial reports and actions relating to the incident. Four learning scenarios are presented per course. A fifth, testing scenario serves as the final exam and is scored and tracked in the Iluminar Learning Management System. Accurate size-up of the fire situation is crucial to the implementation of any strategic plan and its supporting tactics. Size-up starts with the receipt of the alarm and may be carried out many times and by many different individuals during the course of a fire.

1 - ONE STORY SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE 2 - MULTI-STORY SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE 3 - MULTI-FAMILY DWELLING

The responsibility for size-up initially lies with the first officer on the scene, although all engine company members need to be able to make a personal size-up of the fire situation. As higher ranking officers arrive, the responsibility for size-up passes up the chain of command. This series focuses on the initial size-up of an incident by first on scene personnel.

EMERGENCY MEDICAL

Emergency Medical Services Training

Highly trained and effective emergency medical responders are now more important than ever. As the need for qualified emergency medical services expands, we are prepared with three EMS series to get you started.

EMR Series Our award-winning Emergency Medical Responder series

ICP Series Our Infection Control & Prevention, gives instructors the tools they need to help meet the initial and annual training requirements in bloodborne pathogens training and infection control required by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This series provides the most comprehensive training program in infection control and prevention available for classroom and computer-based delivery. Content is based on standards and recommendations from OSHA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA®) and the U.S. Fire Administration. EMT Series Our Emergency Medical Technician series provides EMTs with the knowledge and instruction essential for performing life-saving medical interventions and transporting patients to the hospital. This series encompasses many of the same topics covered in the EMR series, but expands them to include the higher level of care and knowledge required of the EMT. This 27-title series is based on the NEMSES EMT-Level Instructional Guideline. Closed

captioning now available.

“The extensive use of realistic, live patient simulations in the EMR series by the Action Training team sets their training resources apart from the rest of the pack.”

Emergency Medical

provides competency-based courses to prepare first responders for real-life emergencies. This series aligns with the National EMS Education Standard (NEMSES) developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to define the minimum level of competency that must be met by EMS personnel. A T S O N L I N E : Interactive Course Overview “We couldn't be happier with new ATS Online platform and quality of training available”

TEACH

Tyler Abhold – Training Coordinator Yakima County Fire District #4 - Yakima, WA

EASY & EFFICIENT

• Students can study anytime, from any computer with a hi-speed internet connection • Instructors can flip the classroom and spend more time with hands on training • If students are interrupted while taking a course, they can return later and pick up where they left off

INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN

• ATS online course design blends the seeing is believing power of video with true interactivity to produce a more competent emergency responder • ATS visual training content is unequaled in the industry

STANDARDS BASED

• No talking head video here • Engaging video immerses the adult learner in the demonstration of job skills or patient care activities • All demonstrations are performed by professional emergency care responders • Only skills that comply with recognized standards are shown in ATS courses

COMPETENCY-DRIVEN

• Students are asked a series of questions as they watch a course video • If a question is answered incorrectly the program stops, backs up and shows the video clip again with the correct answer • Students must answer all questions correctly to move ahead, so they can't continue through the course with a misconception • This formative assessment is unique to ATS interactive courses

TEST

After completing a training objective with the formative assessment, students must pass a section quiz to demonstrate their retention and understanding of the material before moving on to the next training objective. At the end of a course, students are given a final exam to test their competency with all the training objectives.

Instructors can run a variety of reports to suit their needs, export results to other applications and even set reports to be automatically emailed on a regular schedule.
