About ShadyPeeps It began with a simple dream. Jason Bolt, our founder, began to see the vision for Shady Peeps while attending UW Huskies games and Seattle Sounders matches in Seattle over 4 years ago. As he looked around these stadiums, he saw crazy fans everywhere wearing hats, shirts, foam fingers, but no one had sunglasses to support their team “they were either squinting in the sun trying to see what was happening on the field or wearing typical boring black shades.” He also saw companies looking to flip a cheap product on gameday for profit with no thought of the community or world at large. Jason took this dream of a socially conscious company designing and creating trendy, exciting and affordable sunglasses to the University of Oregon while studying post-baccalaureate pre-med. In the fall of 2010, Jason launched the first Shady Peeps polarized sunglasses in UO green and yellow and they were an instant success with over 25% of the student population picking up a pair. On the heels of a sponsorship and student section giveaway at the UO vs. Stanford football game in 2010, with ESPN GameDay in attendance and Oregon running away with a victory, Shady Peeps became ingrained in the fan culture at Oregon which continued all the way to the National Championship. With one successful season under their belt, the Shady Peeps team began planning for nationwide expansion. Fans all over the world can now express their passion with a pair of quality sunglasses that are not only bold and stylish, but also include high-end protective features like polarized lenses and 100% UV protection. Now that Shady Peeps has seen tremendous growth over the last year, offering officially licensed products for 12 universities and the new Custom shades for fans everywhere, what is Jason most proud of? “Shady Peeps involvement in the community and our internal mantra of Community over Capital really drives who we are as a company. Supporting our partners like Two Feet who started sports camps for underprivileged youth in Kenya or the group in Peru giving out Shady Peeps to protect villagers from the sun at such a high altitude is what drives us to continue our expansion and growth as a company.
