CONTRACT NEWS ZUMTOBEL LUMINAIRES INSTALLED AT AEROSPACE MUSEUM Zumtobel Lighting’s expertise in luminaire design has been used at Aerospace Bristol’s new, state of the art museum, which is dedicated to preserving Bristol’s rich aviation heritage. A comprehensive range of luminaires from Zumtobel have been used to provide eye-catching yet functional, energy efficient lighting throughout the exhibition areas, educational activity area, archive, lecture theatre and conference rooms. Zumtobel’s IP65 rated Craft flicker-free, LED high bay luminaires have been installed to provide general illumination in the exhibition spaces. Craft is a compact, powerful and efficient high bay luminaire with a luminous flux of 25,000 lumens and a luminaire efficacy of 135 lm/W. It also boasts a long lifetime of 50,000 hours, retaining 85% of original performance thanks to lighting cones with square beam patterns. This means that fewer luminaires were required and investment costs were significantly reduced. To highlight the Concorde plane, Paso II has been installed beneath the massive aircraft and has hit all the right buttons when it comes to setting a dramatic contemporary lighting scene, whilst remaining unobtrusive. Used as a recessed floor luminaire, the Paso II LED luminaire produces colour changing RGB columns of light to highlight the museum’s main attraction.

Emergency lighting throughout the museum is provided by Zumtobel’s Resclite Pro LED solution, which provides perfect illumination of escape routes in the facility. This smart emergency luminaire utilises new lenses to provide

enhanced flexibility and combines an unobtrusive look with the highest function-driven performance. Zumtobel, zumtobel.com

Zumtobel Group and its lighting brands, Thorn Lighting and Zumtobel Lighting, have helped to deliver the ideal learning environment for Riverbank Primary School in Dalmarnock, Glasgow. The lighting solution for the project uses a wide variety of luminaires that incorporate the most energy efficient and sustainable technology available. Built to augment ongoing regeneration in the area, the new Riverbank Primary School has 14 classrooms, assembly and gym halls; drama and nurture rooms, administrative and office spaces as well as a library. Thorn’s Omega LEs are installed in the classrooms, providing glare control. The luminaire, which uses 4000K LED and has 50,000 hours of life, keeps maintenance costs to a minimum. IQ Wave illuminates the offices, delivering the ideal light distribution, helping to support comfort and alertness. The high cylindrical illuminance is achieved with the help of a special reflector and ensures perfect lighting for various tasks. IQ Wave achieves a unified glare rating of <19, in line with the EN 12464 standard on workplace lighting. Glacier from Thorn, a high performance (76-107 lm/W) decorative luminaire, illuminates the entrance area, providing excellent lighting quality in an attractive, pendant fitting. Several luminaires from Thorn’s long life and low maintenance Voyager LED series provide emergency lighting throughout the school.
