Mary Magee Gullatte, PhD, RN, ANP-BC, AOCN, LSSYB, FAAN
Gullatte, a USAF veteran, is presently the Corporate Director of Nursing Evidence Based Practice & Research at EMORY Healthcare, Atlanta. Her leadership in nursing spans 45 years with comprehensive experience in Oncology Nursing practice, administration, leadership, academia and research. Dr. Gullatte is also an Adjunct Faculty at the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. As a Nurse Practitioner, her focus is on primary care in adults. She served seven years as Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Emory University Hospital Midtown, Atlanta, Georgia. Mary is the pastPresident of the National Oncology Nursing Society from 2012 – 2014. She has presented at numerous national and international conferences representing six of the seven continents: including, invited speaker and oncology nurse consultant in Ghana, West Africa, Czech Republic, Germany, Norway, Australia, Switzerland, Brazil, Amsterdam, Turkey, Oman-UAE, Thailand, China, United Kingdom, Brussels, France, Philippines, and New Zealand. Dr. Gullatte has gratuitously contributed to the body of published professional literature through articles and textbooks. Her recent book, 21st Century Nursing Leadership received Book of the Year honors in 2018 by the American Journal of Nursing. She is the lead editor of the 4th Edition of the 2020 Chemotherapy Handbook. Throughout her career, Dr. Gullatte has received numerous awards and recognitions for her meritorious professional and community service. She has served on the Joint Commission Nursing Advisory Board for eight years, and in 2010, was inducted into the American Academy of Nursing. In 2020, Dr. Gullatte was honored as Distinguished Nurse of the Year from the Atlanta March of Dimes. Dr. Gullatte is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Currently, Dr. Gullatte serves on the Boards of the Nursing Services Organization and Georgia Nurses Association & Foundation [GNA/GNF]. She led the GNA/GNF Task Force in publishing a Policy Brief on Advancing Health Equity in Georgia. Dr. Gullatte is the executive sponsor and founder of the Emory Nurse Health Policy, Legislative, and Advocacy Council. She enjoys mentoring, empowering, and inspiring future generations of nurses to excel and achieve greatness beyond their imagination. Her palpability to revolutionize healthcare by preventing disease, improving patient and provider outcomes, and their wellbeing is indisputable. Dr. Gullatte considers her greatest legacy is being a wife of 45 years to husband Rodney, Sr., son, Rodney, Jr., daughter, Ronda, and four loving grandchildren.


Dwayne Hooks, PhD, APRN, FNPBC, NEA-BC, PMHNP-BC, FACHE, FAANP, FAAN
Dwayne Hooks, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC, NEA-BC, PMHNP-BC, FACHE, FAANP, FAAN is Dean and Professor in the College of Health at Clayton State University. He is Board Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Executive, and PsychiatricMental Health Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Hooks has over 33 years of registered nurse experience in many clinical care areas and 21 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He has responsibility for the College of Health’s undergraduate and graduate academic programs (Dental Hygiene, Health Care Management, Health and Fitness Management, Health Sciences, and Nursing) as well as all business and operational functions of the College. He completed his BSN and MN degrees at Augusta University College of Nursing in 1989 and in 2002, respectively. Dr. Hooks completed his PhD in Nursing at the University of Kansas in 2015 and a graduate certificate as a Psychiatric-Mental Nurse Practitioner from the George Washington University in 2022.
Dr. Hooks is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and had served in the Chief Nurse Executive role for large multi-hospital systems in Georgia and North Carolina. He has taught in BSN, MSN, DNP and PhD nursing programs and has served on DNP and PhD student teams/committees.
Dr. Hooks has had clinical practice in primary care, infectious disease, pulmonology, family, and nurse-led practices. Dr. Hooks’ scholarship interests are varied and include rare neuromuscular diseases, nurse staffing and productivity, interprofessional care and collaboration, nurse practitioner program curricula, specifically the DNP final scholarly work, nurse faculty clinical practice, as well as the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Dr. Hooks is a Fellow in the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and his recent clinical work focuses on creating innovative patient care models utilizing registered nurses and advanced practice nurses to their highest levels of education, experience, and licensure. Dr. Hooks was a recipient of a Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) training grant aimed at increasing the use of professional registered nurses, in collaboration with advanced practice registered nurses and other interprofessional team members, in ambulatory care environments. He also received a HRSAfunded training grant focused on the creation of integrated behavioral and physical health practices.
Dr. Hooks is active nationally in the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) serving on the Board of Directors and as the Board Liaison to the Finance, Capital Development and Marketing Committee. He also completed the NONPF Leadership Program Fellowship. He is also a member of the Academy of Judges for the annual Sharecare Awards program. Dr. Hooks presents locally, nationally, and internationally on a variety of clinical, academic, and executive nursing and healthcare leadership topics. Dr. Hooks is a tenured full Professor and was inducted as a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in October 2022.
Dr. Jackie Walters
Dr. Jackie is a philanthropist, women’s advocate, award-winning OB/GYN, and a cast member of Bravo’s hit TV show Married to Medicine. As a two-time cancer survivor, she has turned her pain into a passion for nurturing the emotional and physical needs of women and men diagnosed with breast cancer.This Board Certified doctor lives by the philosophy “work hard, play hard.” After earning two Bachelor of Science Degrees from the University of Mississippi and Alcorn State University, and graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Dr. Walters completed her Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Medical Center of Central Georgia and Mercer University. Dr. Walters’ mastery of various procedures and use of traditional and cutting-edge medicine, along with her compassionate and vibrant spirit, allows her to serve a diverse and loyal clientele who trust her intellect and inventiveness when it comes to their medical needs.
Dr. Simone Whitmore
Dr. Simone Whitmore was born and raised in Nashville, TN. She graduated from Spelman College with a degree in biology and pre-medicine and earned her doctorate from East Tennessee State University, Quillen College of Medicine. Dr. Whitmore completed her residency at Boston Medical Center in 1997 and became a Board Certified OBGYN in 1999. Dr. Whitmore is a sought-after speaker on women’s health issues and has owned North Perimeter OB/GYN since 2004 as a solo practitioner. She has over 30 years of experience.
Dr. Whitmore has been practicing in the Atlanta area since 1999 with admitting privileges to Northside Hospital. The scope of her practice includes high risk pregnancies, infertility counseling, treatment for fibroids, adolescent medicine, contraceptive management, menopausal treatment and alternative options.
Dr. Whitmore has excellent bedside manners and is attentive to the needs of her patients. While lending a listening ear, she is always honest and candid about the appropriate care she would like for the patient to have. She is also an official cast member of Bravo TV’s Married to Medicine.
Annette Mincey George, CNA
Annette Mincey George was born in Troy, Alabama. As the second oldest of five siblings, I learned early on the importance of hard work and dedication. After graduating from high school, I decided to pursue a career in healthcare and earned my Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) certificate from Tom P. Haney Technical College in Florida. I began my career in a nursing home but soon found my passion for working in a hospital setting. From Bay Medical Center to Dekalb Medical Center and Gwinnett Medical Center, I have dedicated over 30 years to caring for patients. While my role has changed over the years, my commitment to providing compassionate and quality care has remained steadfast. As I look toward the future, I am honored to be recognized for my contributions to the healthcare field and grateful for the opportunity to continue making a difference.
