EAST ATHENS

The opening of the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 brought a renewed interest in the 'East Side'. It employs close to 200 faculty, 450 students, various residents & interns, and regular staff in the area, and prompted many locals to relocate to the communities that surround the new facility.

The rise in home prices and rental rates in the downtown area has also contributed to the popularity of East Athens. 2400 Lexington Road is located along Hwy 78 in East Athens-2.4 miles from downtown and the UGA main campus. Lexington Road travels east through Athens as Hwy 78 Business and on to Atlanta and will carry drivers to I-20 and Augusta traveling west.
