This provides not only faster internet connections, but much more data flow–one strand of fiber can carry data, voice and television signals simultaneously without affecting each other. The City has completed the construction of its Network Operations Center and the distribution portion of the network. Approximately 500 homes are served directly with fiber optics. All of the institutions and almost all of the commercial spaces in the City have access to high speed interconnect fiber optics. Loma Linda was the first community in the nation to mandate all newly constructed homes and heavily remodeled ones be wired with fiber optics.
