Mark Sauer is as focused and as passionate a person as you are likely to ever find.

After a career that took him to the highest heights of sports and business --including stints as President of the Pittsburgh Pirates and president of the St. Louis Blues--Sauer “retired” to Delray Beach. Only his version of retirement is a lot different than the stereo typical retiree. No early birds for Sauer. Not many days spent lounging on a golf course and certainly no time wasted complaining about life’s little grievances. Instead Sauer has devoted his time to men-

toring, tutoring, coaching and caring for Delray’s most vulnerable children. Many are teenagers who are talented but struggle financially or with difficult Family situations. Others struggle academically but excel in other areas such as athletics. Spend any time with Sauer and you’ll see how frenetic his life can be. His phone rings or buzzes with texts from students needing one thing or another and frankly Sauer would have it no other way.
