Residents of the school district are elected to serve on the Board of Education (also called School Board) and govern the school district. There are seven directors on the board, and they are elected at large. Terms overlap to ensure continuity of membership. Elections take place in November of even-numbered years.
Regular meetings are broadcast live on cable television in Burnsville, Eagan and Savage and rebroadcast at various times on Channel 18. Board meetings are also streamed on the district’s website at www.isd191.org, where you will be able to view all or select parts of meetings.

District Mission Statement
District 191 was one of the first in the state to have a student serve on the school board as a non-voting member representing the interests of students. Burnsville High School senior Sangeetha Shreedaran will serve in that role for the 2013-14 school year. All board meetings are open to the public. Meetings take place, with few exceptions, at 6:30 p.m. on the first and third Thursdays of each month at the Burnsville High School S enior Campus, on the upper level of Diamondhead Education Center, at 200 W. Burnsville Pkwy., Burnsville.
School board members host monthly informal discussions, called "Listening Sessions," beginning at 6 p.m. before the first board meeting of each month. Check the district’s website for this year’s schedule. You can also share your thoughts by sending an e-mail to info@burnsville.k12.mn.us. More information about board meetings, agendas and policies is available by going to www.isd191.org.
