Since 2012, Theatre on the Edge has produced the following original work:
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson are celebrating the marriage of their son Robert to Issy Shipiro. You are cordially invited to the wedding breakfast as friends of the happy couple.
• 2012: On the Edge, a story of coastal erosion. • 2013: The Last Leviathans, the story of the Hull whaler, The Diana. • 2014: Film Noir, Assemble Fest, The Piper Club. • 2014/2015: The Clapham Girls’ War, a story of WW1 on the home front. • 2015/2016: Six Characters in Search of a Handout, an absurdist black comedy. Mrs. Johnson is determined to bring a touch of La La Land to Newland Avenue and has spent hours transforming the venue into a place fit for the nuptials of her beloved son. She’s designed beautiful floral decorations and ordered a fantastic cake. She’s booked a choir and hired some very special staff to serve the drinks. Mr. Johnson is nervous about his speech, but is determined to make things go with a swing. The best man has some juicy anecdotes with pictures that the groom would prefer us not to see. There are messages of support from friends and family. And Tom, in his speech, remembers those who cannot be here and asks us not to forget their contributions to the happy event.
