Within this project students were tasks with designing two studios and two apartments for a chosen artsist, sculptor, designer, etc.
The artists I selected were known for utilizing vibrant natural lighting in their artistic process. Understanding their preferences and delving into their body of work facilitated my approach to programming and designing the space.
My space was then designed with the Prairie Houses’ dimensions and materials in mind. Consequently, I opted to use a soft-colored wood as my building’s main material, as well as, integrate two mirrored studios within the building, strategically positioned to primarily face east, ensuring optimal capture of the sun’s morning rays.

Fall 2023 - Design III
The goal of this project was to create spaces that benefit both insects and humans. Previously, we had focused on researching insect habitats in other projects, with my specific focus being on the Photinus Pyralis, a common eastern firefly.
In the BLER project, we aimed to improve insect habitats, especially in areas where their homes had been destroyed. The main task was to design a Building for Ecological Regeneration, intended for use by scientists, educators, and students from elementary to university level. The site would also be open to visits from local residents seeking to enjoy the landscape.
The design considers various elements such as defining landscapes, landscape features, semi-enclosed spaces, and enclosed interior spaces, with a focus on how tectonics and artifacts could enhance insect habitats.

Fall 2023 - Design III
This particular project involved designing a film and/or performance space, exploring how visitors engage with performance.
Performance architecture manipulates light, views, and experience to facilitate engagement, reflection, and transportation. This project began with analyzing the film, Pans Labrinth. Through the intpretatoin of light quality, perspective, and motion a catalyst for understanding narrative and atmosphere creation, allowed for the creation of innovate architecture.
Architects often draw from diverse disciplines to enrich their practice. In this project the task was to watch the film of our chosing, examining its cinematography and narrative techniques, then map compelling elements to design three-dimensional spaces. Emphasis was placed on individual exploration of preferred qualities throughout the films.
