The Triple Warmer, having no specific physicality or location, is even more of an Organ function than a specific Organ. It is divided into the Upper, Middle and Lower Warmers: the internal organs and area from the base of the sternum upwards is the Upper Warmer, from the base of the sternum down to the navel is the Middle Warmer and the area below the navel is considered the Lower Warmer. The Triple Warmer regulates warmth and water metabolism throughout all the internal systems and is the process by which the body-mind relates physically and mentally to all of its parts. 3) Season: Summer Summer is a time when the sun is at its zenith and all living things flourish in the abundance of resources. 4) Climate: Hot Either a strong preference for, or abhorrence of, hot weather is an indication of a Deficiency or Excess of Heat. According to TCM theory, all heat and warmth emanate from the Heart, so that hot weather can be injurious to the psycho-physical functions of the Heart-Mind. If there is Heart Deficiency, on the other hand, one is less able to tolerate cold weather. 5) Direction: South This is the area that receives the greatest concentration of light and warmth from the sun. It is the exposure to the sunlight of the South that provides for maximum plant growth. 6) Time of Day: 11 A.M. - 3 P.M. Based upon sun time, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. is Heart time and from 1 - 3 P.M. is Small intestine time. Then from 7 - 9 P.M. is the Pericardium time and finally from 9 - 11 P.M. is the Triple Warmer time.
