Las Vegas Kaminari Taiko was formed in 1993 by George Goto and Doug Muraokaunder the name “Las Vegas Taiko”. George served as the drum maker and Doug was the director. After practicing on tires and building their own drums, Las Vegas Taiko became Las Vegas Kaminari Taiko (LVKT) because of the impressive thunderous sounds the drums made. As part of the Las Vegas chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League, it is LVKT’s mission to spread the art form of taiko to the Southern Nevada community and celebrate its cultural diversity. Over the past 20+ years, LVKT has performed all over Las Vegas, Henderson, and North Las Vegas at schools, conventions, casinos and community festivals. LVKT maintains the traditional roots of taiko instruction, while bringing some modern flavor and influence into their music. LVKT consists of students and performers of all ages who are taught and directed by Jennifer Caballero.

Ever since I was 12, I have been a huge fan of Elvis. I love singing and imitating his moves. “Blue Suede Shoes” was the first song I learned on my guitar. So far, I have played and sang songs of Elvis for friends and relatives. Since 2018 I have also been performing as the “Asian Elvis” at birthday parties, weddings, conferences and other celebrations, using high quality backing tracks or alongside a live band. I can’t wait to be your special guest at the Expo 2023 of the Professional Asian Pilots Association at Westgate Hotel Las Vegas on May 18 and 19. “A little less conversation, a little more Asian Elvis please!”
