A Message from our CEO

It is time to let optimism, hope and positive plans come forth and dominateonce again in society and in all our lives. It has been a difficult two years sinceCOVID-19 first arrived on our shores, especially for those who have been illor lost loved ones, who we shall never forget. We finally see a very welcomeatmosphere, that life is returning to a new sense of normality and with thathope has emerged. It is important at this moment to re-iterate the gratitude we all feel for theextraordinary work carried out by health and social care teams all over thecountry, now but more especially over the past two years. Staff contributedso much and worked selflessly by continuing to provide services, albeit vianew ways of working, which was challenging for you. This is an exemplaryillustration of public service. We have always said that when this public health emergency ends we wantto retain the innovation, empowerment and flexibility we have witnessed andexperienced over the past two years. The planning around services, workingpractices and the return to the workplace will be appropriately structured toreflect this.As we begin to adapt to a new reality with greater openness we continue tourge everyone to retain awareness of COVID-19. At a senior operational levelwithin the HSE, we are hopeful but also ensuring that we are in a state ofreadiness should any new variant or any cause for concern emerge.Throughout the pandemic, the National Crisis Management Team has workedto ensure the HSE acts in the best interest of the public, and it continues toensure that everything we do is guided by the best public health advice. We are continuing to monitor the disease, manage our COVID-19 relatedservices and work to ensure that all services, across all sectors operateefficiently given COVID’s presence. We are continuing to urge those who stillrequire a COVID-19 vaccine or booster dose to come forward. We have seenthe huge positive impact that the COVID-19 vaccine has made on lessening thespread of the disease, and reducing its severity, to the great benefit of people, our society and in maintaining our health service.Thank you for your immeasurable contribution since the start of thepandemic. Your collective actions have greatly improved the public’s trust andconfidence in the HSE.
