Ashton Design is nationally recognized as a leader in environmental graphic design (EGD) for sports arenas and public places. Our firm’s expertise in the field is tangible in the wayfinding and signage solutions that we’ve designed for major league ballparks and stadiums. We have helped sports teams across the nation understand that graphic designers can be full partners in shaping the fan experience. Our unmatched depth of experience collaborating with team executives, project architects, sponsors and other members of the multidisciplinary team, allows us to find unexpected solutions to each project’s unique challenges and opportunities. Our team approaches each project with the recognition that a city’s MLB stadium is a beloved institution, and we engage in a research process that allows us to uncover a park’s unique vernacular. We create a foundation style that is applied to everything from ADA signage to the scoreboard, interior design of restaurants to displays honoring a team’s history. Our work forges a unified look throughout the park, a stadium brand that makes fans feel that this is “our house.” Then we layer in the team’s identity and the corporate identities of sponsors, concessions, and other elements that create a dynamic destination and game-day experience. We have had particular success in working with sponsors to weave in signage that achieve sponsors’ goals while maintaining a coherent, authentic look. As the designer of record at Dodgers Stadium, Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Fenway Park, and numerous other historic stadiums, as well as for modern spring training facilities for the Orioles, Red Sox, and other MLB teams, we have earned a reputation for pioneering graphics that improve the fan experience and help make ballparks destinations in their own right.
