Ashtead Village Day - Saturday 9th June Ashtead Village Day is upon us - Saturday the 9th of June - and all manner of excitements are on offer this year. The Ewell St Mary's Morris Dancers herald the start of proceedings at 11am by performing at The Leg of Mutton and Cauliflower in The Street followed by a parade of classic motorbikes by the Surrey Norton Motorcycle Club departing from Elphick's corner at 12 Noon then making their way down to Barnett Wood Lane. There the Day will be officially opened by BBC TV's Evan Davis from Dragons Den and the programme of events will unfold in the arena. The timetable can be found on the centre pages where you will find information on the amazing performing dogs, a tightrope walker, two dance performances and a session from pop group favourite 'Atlantis'. For the younger ones there will be pony rides and Punch & Judy and the Little Red Bus returns this year. For others the attraction will be the Fairground and the Ferris Wheel or the chance to be strapped in to a Formula One car and 'drive' the Silverstone circuit measuring your performance on the 'Top Gear' style Leader Board with prizes for 1st 2nd and 3rd places.
