But to be young... Surrey Hills Onward Learning is not just an adult education centre. Whereas we have about 800 learners over the age of 19, studying a range of subjects from Gardening to Geology, Latin to London, Computers to Counselling, it is less well known that we have some 50 young people under the age of 19 working towards GCSEs, AS and A levels. We are increasing our range of subjects to meet the demand, including this year GCSEs in Biology and Business Studies, and one-year crash courses in 3 A levels. It is possible to study with us part time or full time, and we will put together a programme to meet the needs of the individual young person. The large school or college is not the right place for everybody, and the semi-formal, more supportive and friendly environment that we provide suits some very well. For those aged between 16 and 19, GCSEs, AS and A levels are free of charge. For 15 year olds the fee is £300 per GCSE. We encourage young people and their parents to come to meet us to discuss their needs and how we can help. NB. Adult learners are also welcome to join our GCSEs and A levels on a part time basis, and many do!
