Grading & Attendance Students are monitored to measure development and progress using performance skills tests and critiques. Students must maintain a GPA of 2.0, a C-grade in order to remain in good academic standing. Daily grades are recorded based on instructor evaluations using a 10-point rubric system which is then converted to a 100-point scale. Examinations for each course are in the form of a practical skills test which requires student to demonstrate proficiency in the skills and techniques covered in each course and uses the same 10-point rubric system. AMUA places strong importance on attendance. Students are expected to be on-time and prepared for every class. Students may not be absent more than (1) time in any course. Three tardies is equivalent to one absence. Students who must be unavoidably absent must make up their classes and projects by making arrangements with the instructor prior to the end of each course. Absences remain on student’s records; directors and producers prior to hiring often request permanent records. AMUA will not generally permit access to, or release of, educational records or personally identifiable information contained therein to any party without the written consent of the student. In general, students who enroll at AMUA have the right to review their student record. The information is available to the student only, for review while enrolled or anytime thereafter. This right is guaranteed by the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.
