CALENDAR | News, Updates & Listings L-DHS Class of ’80 Rescheduled The Reunion Committee for the Lee-Davis High School Class of 1980 has decided to postpone the reunion from June 20 to sometime in September due to the COVID-19 situation. More details will be released by the committee as soon as they have been finalized.
Saturday, Sept. 19 Rescheduled The Highland Springs High School Class of 1970 will now hold its 50th Reunion at the Hill Building at Sandston Pool, located at 501 Beulah Rd. in Sandston. Music will be presented by DJ Dalton Beagle. Dinner, drinks and dessert will be provided by Champagne Taste Catering. Bring your own mixers and alcohol. Small coolers are welcome. The doors will open at 4 p.m.; cocktails at 5 p.m.; dinner at 6 p.m.; and cleanup will be at 10 p.m. The cost is $45 per person. Those who may have recently paid $50 after March 1 have been refunded $5. No tickets will be sold at the door. For invitations or more information, contact

Parsons’ Cause Foundation presents Richard Henry Lee Contributed Report news@mechlocal.com HANOVER -- The Parsons' Cause Foundation is pleased to present Richard Henry Lee. Lee, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, was an influential Founding Father. In June 1776, he drafted the "Lee Resolution," the motion in the Second Continental Congress that called for independence from Great Britain. He served as the sixth pres-
ident of Congress under the Articles of Confederation. Once the Constitution was adopted, Lee served as a United States senator. Presenter Marc Holma graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in history and he holds a M.S. in historic preservation from Ball State University. After serving in the Army as an officer in a tank battalion, Holma taught United States and world history at St. John's Military Academy in Wisconsin.
He can often be seen portraying Thomas Jefferson at St. John's Church in the re-enactment of Patrick Henry's famous "Liberty or Death" speech. He also has portrayed Benedict Arnold for The Parsons' Cause Foundation and elsewhere. Holma is an architectural historian with the Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
