Death for child molester? He is a 53-year-old Australian accused of the torture and murder of children for his own sexual gratification that Philippine authorities are considering reintroducing the death penalty for. Peter Gerard Scully, a father of two from Melbourne, is in a Philippine prison charged with some of the vilest acts known to humanity. During court hearings and while being filmed in prison, the man believed to have perpetrated some of the worst crimes against children laughed, joked and acted nonchalant about his alleged crimes. But that may change now the Philippines is considering putting him before a firing squad. And it is the fate of one victim in particular that has prompted appalled Filipino prosecutors to call for Scully’s execution. Shocking details can be revealed about the five-year-old girl who Scully hung upside down as he raped and tortured her with two accomplices. Filipino police say Scully also buried a 11-year-old under the floor of a house he was renting after making a film of him raping her and strangling her to death Now the Philippines may reinstate the death penalty as the only punishment appropriate for Scully’s heinous crimes. Capital punishment was outlawed in 1986 at the end

Scully fled to the Philippines from Australia in 2011 after he was charged with fraud. Scully lured children away from impoverished parents with the promise of food and education or used teenage girl accomplices to kidnap them. He then drugged the children and made films of him raping and torturing them for

an international paedophile ring. Operating a secret child pornography site on the Dark Web called, he sold the videos for up to $10,000 per view. But of all his despicable acts, his most infamous is the film he made for the Dark Web is Daisy’s Destruction. It is this film which shocked even seasoned child trafficking investigators, a Filipino police chief calling it “the worst we have encountered in our years campaigning against child pornography”. It is believed the victim in the film is a girl called Barbie, who was taken from her family at the age of five by one of Scully’s cohorts, Liezyl Magallo. Margallo and another young girl Carmen Ann Alvarez are

also facing charges of child exploitation. Alvarez is said to have been taken in by Sully as his girlfriend after he met her as a 14-year-old prostitute. His vile crimes went largely undetected until two of his victims, cousins Queenie and Daisy, aged 9 and 12, escaped. Assisted by the Australian Federal Police and filmed by the Nine’s 60 Minutes, Philippine police arrested Scully in February last year. Alvarez led them to the apartment where the 11-yearold was buried and to another addresses where Scully raped and tortured his child victims. Scully has pleaded not guilty to the rape and trafficking of two teenage girls and is being held in the Cagayan de Oro City jail. - news.com.au

Syria announces new Aleppo offensive The Syrian army has announced the start of a new military offensive in the rebelheld east of the city of Aleppo, signalling a potential further escalation in a bombing campaign by Russian and Syrian jets that rebels say has already intensified in the last 24 hours. State media quoted the army’s military headquarters in Aleppo as urging civilians in eastern parts of the city to

avoid areas where “terrorists” were located and saying it had prepared exit points for those who wanted to flee, including rebels. The army announcement did not say whether the campaign would also include a ground incursion. Rebels said Russian and Syrian jets had escalated strikes in the past 24 hours on areas that control access to the city,

whose rebel-held east has been besieged by Russian and Iranian-backed pro-government forces and completely encircled for all but a few weeks since July. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also confirmed the intensification of raids on residential areas in eastern Aleppo, saying at least 14 people had been killed on Thursday, mostly civilians.

The United States and Russia have been leading diplomatic efforts to negotiate a lasting ceasefire and have been discussing how to coordinate attacks on militants from the Islamic State and the group formally known as the Nusra Front. Actor takes aim at homeland Larger-than-life actor Gerard Depardieu said his homeland France is becoming a playground for foreigners populated by imbeciles making wine and stinky cheese. It's not the first time the maverick performer, 67, has taken aim at France, saying it will become a Disneyland for foreigners. He was granted Russian citizenship in 2013 after befriending strongman President Vladimir Putin and lambasting tax rates on top earners in his native land. When asked during the in-

Gerard Depardieu terview if he considers himself French, Depardieu said,"No, I'm a citizen of the world. "France is likely to become a Disneyland for foreigners, populated by imbeciles mak-

ing wine and stinky cheese for tourists. "There is no more freedom, people are being manipulated." Depardieu also took a swing at the film industry saying, “cinema doesn't exist any more. "There is a world of entertainment and people, terrorised by the Americans, don't know any more which language to speak." "There are 10 stars and they are all American. "Their films are crammed with special effects, and the rest of the world of cinema is struggling to exist," he added during

the interview on the occasion of the release in Italy of his autobiography Innocent. In February Depardieu trashed the Oscars, criticising Hollywood for its comfort bubble. But in Depardieu's eyes, Italy deserves some praise. "In Italy, happily, you have not lost your culture and your identity. "Because you are a young country. "Unlike half of Europe - with its fear of migrants - that has become a bit fascist." - Daily Mail
