FEICA's European conference returns with historic success

ASC was pleased to be in attendance at FEICA's recent European Adhesive & Sealant Conference and EXPO to hear the latest trends and topics affecting our industry across the pond. FEICA, Europe's equivalent to ASC, held the event in Hamburg, Germany, from September 14 16. Not only was the meeting celebrating 50 years of FEICA but it was also its first in person event since 2019 because of the pandemic. FEICA reported a record turnout with more than

700 industry representatives in attendance.

"The energy at the event was really strong and the enthusiasm apparent. The industry remains strong and the need to stay engaged remains very high," said Bill Allmond, ASC President.

"Everyone was just very happy to be back together and the level of interaction was tremendous "

Sustainability Forum returns

After an eight year hiatus, ASC once again hosted its Sustainability Forum in September, providing some insight ful discussion about this important issue to our membership.

The Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh welcomed more than 90 attendees to the two day forum, which included 17 speakers over 15 different sessions.

As one of three strategic objectives in the current Long Range Plan, ASC thought it important to mark the return of the event to bring the industry together and talk about past achievements and plans moving forward. The presentations focused on different topics such as corporate strategy, developments within end use markets, global regulatory developments, and innovation.

Among the many highlights were keynote speaker Chris Miller, Senior Global Research Director, Arkema Coating Resins, talking about sustainable development trends and the outlook for the industry. There was also an absorbing panel session that encouraged some lively debate about sustainable packaging across the value chain.

Leadership conference proves another event to remember

Senior executives and leaders joined the ASC team in La Jolla, California from November 1-3 for the Executive Leadership Conference and a few days of enlightening presentations and plenty of networking opportunities.

From the moment outgoing ASC Chair Heather Campe delivered the welcome address, the program delivered some really fantastic content and stimulated plenty of discussion.

Given the current market conditions, the thoughts of motivational speaker Aaron Thomas were most welcome explaining how best to deal with adversity and seize opportunities. Among other highlights were Christian Maclver, Global Vice President of supply chain at Ingevity, who high

lighted the issues affecting the global supply chain, the trends for the adhesive and sealant sector, and the growing importance of digitalization and automation.

The future of the adhesive and sealant industry relies on the talent and skills of our people.
