By sharing monitoring activities’ results , we reduce ef for t , save money and increase consistency in the buying and supply process. Australian cot ton farmers claim to be the most ef ficient in the world , achieving in the last 10 years a 4 0 % increase in their water productivit y a n d 9 0 % d e c r e a s e i n t h e u s e o f p e s t i c i d e s . GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD. Organic cotton is grown without toxic chemicals , using g r o w i n g s y s t e m s t h a t r e p l e n i s h a n d m a i n t a i n s o i l f e r t i l i t y w h i l e u s i n g l e s s w a t e r. T h e m a i n benefit of an organic cotton product is that crops aren’t treated with pesticides , insecticides , herbicides or genetic modifications.
