The Learning Support Teaching Assistant is an essential member of the ASB's inclusive education team, working closely with educators and therapeutic professionals to support individual students or small groups They help ensure access to learning by providing academic, social-emotional, and physical support while promoting student independence Their responsibilities include supporting instruction, differentiating learning, assisting with transitions, and contributing to assessment The role varies depending on student needs and requires flexibility, collaboration, and a whole-classroom perspective

Responsibilities:

● Provide instructional support and individualized attention to students

● Assist with developing programs for students with emotional, social, behavioral, and attention needs

● Implement interventions and accommodations to match the individual needs of the student(s), either within the regular classroom or in a pull-out situation outside the classroom

● Teach children in small and large groups

● Assist teachers in lesson planning and preparation

● Work collaboratively with members of the Learning Support and grade level team

● Conduct diagnostic and progress monitoring assessments of students

● Participate in planning and conducting parent conferences

● Communicate orally and in writing with parents,

● Prepare instructional materials and displays

● Participate in classroom activities such as small group instructions, storytelling, and projects

● Assist in supervising students in the classroom, cafeteria, field trips, playground, hallways, or other locations & activities as assigned.

● Perform admin duties such as collecting supplies and attendance.

● Organize materials for the instructional day.

● Other unforeseen jobs as assigned

● Provide support in planning for the instructional use of technology.

● Learns and provides training, if needed, on using various digital tools.

● Engage in curricular and pedagogical professional development opportunities on and off campus.

Who

We’re Looking For? The ideal candidate will bring:

● Bachelor's degree from a recognized college/university, ideally in Special Education Preferred:

● Prior experience in a Pre-K–12 school setting

● Developmentally appropriate practices and pedagogy Skills:

● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that promote collegial interaction

● A Commitment to working collaboratively with colleagues and a willingness to step in, step up, and support colleagues and students

● The ability to connect with various student learning styles

● High energy; hardworking, organized, and reliable
