In conclusion men largely occupy the public space in Connaught Place and women found having a constricted body language in public. Kolkata: Both women and men have been equally active in political and social activities in Kolkata in the past, thanks to the heavy influence of feminism, communism, and Marxism. Student politics, street theatres, protests, marches, labour unions, and strikes are commonplace in the city, with women playing an important role. As a result, one might expect a balance between the two genders in Kolkata's public places. As per Sanjukta Basu women’s presence in public spaces is indeed strong in Kolkata, but spotting an unaccompanied woman is still rare. Women from the economically-marginalized class are seen accessing public space more than upper-class.

Park Street runs from Chowringhee to Park Circus and is a long road. Some of Kolkata's top pubs and restaurants can be found on both sides of the street. It's where Kolkatans go pub hopping, and where the majority of the city's population celebrates Christmas and New Year in flair. She noticed a shift in the cityscape after taking a few steps off the main street and into the back roads. The streets are dimly lighted, and there are few people to be seen. Paan, bidi, and tea establishments are tucked away in dark alleys, where men occasionally stop for a cigarette, but women hardly visit.
