Just like how seeds need to move away from the shade of the parent plant to grow better, children will recognise the need to move out of their comfort zones for greater growth. In this programme, children will be able to appreciate the wonderful and effective designs of winged seeds. They will also make models of their own winged seed and try them out! This programme is conducted in collaboration with NParks and is recommended for children aged 5-12. This programme is free but registration is required, limited to 30 parentchild pairs.
30 August, 4.00 pm – 5.30 pm Everest Room, Woodlands Regional Library Young Author Club (YAC) is an initiative by Janus Education to nurture the creative literary aspirations of young students. Facilitated by experienced mentors in the writing industry, this free workshop aims to discover and inspire Singapore’s next generation of writers and storytellers. During the monthly get-together sessions, participants can exchange ideas about storylines, plots, characters, themes and more. Do you have a pet bird? Or do you know of a bird that sings? Come on board The Mapping Express and get to know a mythical bird, created by world renowned children’s book author, Hans Christian Andersen! You will take part in the storytelling of “The Plain Nightingale”, explore wild animals, and play exciting games. What’s more, you will get to make and bring home your very own nightingale headgear! This programme is open to 30 children aged 3–6. The programme is free however registration is still required. Please register via eKiosks or website http://golibrary.nlb.gov.sg.
