LRG Seating ARTLESS LRG Sofas are our interpretation of what contemporary seating should be. We liked the Italian sofas but they seemed to slick. We designed the LRG and knew a solid wood wrap around base was a must. ARTLESS designs with all four sides in mind, and we needed a sofa with a compelling back and wood cradles the sofa so nicely. The LRG sofa is full of comfort with its down proof ticking cushion and pillows, we find it immersive. The Walnut cradle base creates a striking backside.

Melinda Seating Chair + Settee ARTLESS Melinda Seating is not so much an object as a state of mind, Melinda is not a person, but a mood, a bit distracted and light headed. Melinda is the ideal companion to hold you in when the world seems like it is just too much to handle. The Melinda chair and settee are the closest of all ARTLESS seating pieces to a bucket seat. The chairs dimensions embrace the body, and the arm height is ideal for holding a book. We believe it is our most formal seating, yet in many ways, our softest. While the solid Walnut base brings a hint of toughness to the back. Melinda is just full of subtle contradictions.

Up Solutions ARTLESS Up Solutions were the product of a desire as much as it was a need. In the unfulfilled search for the perfect sofa, the only solution was to design one from scratch. We liked the Danish modern sofas and mid century American sofas, but both proved far from ideal. The shape of the Danes was great, while their fabrics seemed too rough. The American sofas seemed a bit too stiff, designed more for the corporate world than for the home. Aesthetics seemed adequate but the seating was always a bit hard. We designed an aesthetically pleasing sofa without sacrificing comfort, and with soft yet resistant fabrics.

A.R.S. ARTLESS A.R.S. is the acronym for “After Robert Smithson�. ARTLESS has been heavily influenced by the artists and thinker Robert Smithson. We have not tried to formalize a single Smithson concept, but rather have been inspired by his writing and work. ARTLESS ARS family is quickly becoming a very diverse. Available in a variety of material tops and colorful bottoms, their undeniable versatility is being undermined by their striking personality. The top of the base is a closed hexagon, which is torqued and its sides erased as it reaches the floor. This simple, yet powerful form is capped by the contrast of the seat or table top, which brings purpose and meaning to it all.

G.A.X. ARTLESS GAX is the most architectural and most structural of our designs. It is a very simple solution to a very common problem, a table with no apron. By designing a table with just two elements, the base and the top. A 2” solid wood top, 2” tubular base, no cross members, and no other structural elements; the cleanest possible approach meant to last a lifetime. THE GAX tables and benches are work horses camouflaged as stallions, sturdy, strong, and nearly indestructible, yet of an undeniable beauty and elegance. Each GAX piece is different, yet they all have an "indestructible" wood top, which contrasts nicely with the reflective nature of the polished stainless steel base. The solid wood board top has an oil rubbed hand finish, giving off a matte, deep luster while allowing a coaster free living. By using 2” solid wood, for structural purposes, we also create a recreational worktable that tolerates hot and cold objects. The GAX base is made of marine grade Stainless Steel, meticulously hand polished to a mirror finish, a complicated and laborious task, well worth it.

SQG Glass Top Tables ARTLESS SQG Tables started as a glass top variation of the SQ Tables. While continuing the use of 2� solid wood, the success of this line has clearly eclipsed the original SQ Tables. The base's inverted pedestal form allows for the display of objects and books, while the glass top acts as a floating lid. The base's heaviness and solidity resembles a minimalist sculpture, while the glass extends out protecting the base. ARTLESS SQG Table bases are available in two sizes and two woods; all have the same height of 14�. The wood choices are Black Walnut or White Oak, both of which are finished with an oil rubbed finish.

Matchstick Tables ARTLESS Matchstick Tables were conceived as an efficient, resourceful, and clever use of material and space. The Matchstick tables maintain a complete faithfulness to the original idea, and the initial mock up of matchsticks. The Matchstick tables occupy space nicely, with just the right size for either a side or end table. The Matchstick Tables are the only ARTLESS piece with a direct narrative thread, as the title clearly states. We don't do pieces with attached meanings, or with external references, except for these.

Boreal ARTLESS Boreal Tables offer a new degree of aesthetic purity and material clarity; offer a new paradigm in sublimation. We find these tables to offer a charming complexity within the subtlety of their form. There is a sobriety and a very northern, Boreal sensibility to them, we wanted to push a vocabulary that resonated as contemporary yet seemed hard to pin point in a specific place or time frame. UNTITLED ARTLESS Untitled tables merge and expand our vocabulary by continuing to investigate and develop a few ongoing theses of ours. The solid Walnut sled frame is the same shape found in our LRG seating and in the Melinda and Allison chairs. The 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 wood bar not only has very pleasing proportions, its structural properties are very attuned to our work while remaining unobtrusive. We love the shape of the Walnut bar for it’s subtle round top and square bottom.

SQ Walnut Beds + Tables ARTLESS SQ pieces were originally conceived for a Government building in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The demands were beauty, maintenance, durability, and cost. The criteria were to push the pieces towards the simplest of form while achieving a “double function single meaning". All the pieces in the SQ line go beyond their intended purpose and offer simple yet unconventional storage solutions. The SQ line is the precursor of ARTLESS' "indestructible" approach. ARTLESS started using 2" solid woods as a solution for furniture that was aesthetically pleasing not only to the eye but to the hand, while being nearly indestructible under everyday use. ARTLESS solid woods are hand finished with an environmentally friendly, natural oil rub, which allows the pieces to age gracefully, requiring minimum maintenance and care.

THN ARTLESS THN pieces expand the minimalist language we find at the heart of our designs. This new and expanding collection is the unintended marriage between two ARTLESS lines. The solid Walnut of the SQ Family and the contrasting lacquered elements of the Units. In the case of the THN, the solid Walnut becomes a protective box enveloping two smaller lacquered drawer boxes. The lacquered boxes are proportioned to be two thirds of the piece. With this move the functionality and mass of the drawers is exacerbated with the visual appeal of an open, see-through space. THN stands for “The Hawks Nest� a name chosen by one of our earliest and greatest supporters, and a very dear client.
