REFLECTIONS

Coco Martin says he enjoys doing a rom-com project

By Dr. Jun Vencer by: Kristhoff Cagape

ARE YOU FULFILLING GOD’S DESTINY FOR YOUR LIFE?

W

e are told that there were more Christian martyrs in the last century compared with all the previous centuries combined. Jesus warned His disciples that they will be “like sheep among the wolves” (Matt. 10:16) and that “persecution will arise because of the word” (Matt. 13:21). Our Lord did not pray that His disciples be taken from this world but that God will protect them from evil (Jn. 17:15). . In other words, Christians will not be exempt from trials, testings, temptations and demonic attacks but they are promised eventual protection and vindication. Today, many Christians are standing before Religious or Civil Courts for their faith in Jesus. Many will be convicted to serve prison terms and others may even lose their lives. Dietrich Bonheoffer reffered to these as the “cost of discipleship.” The question is: If you and I are accused in a court of law as being Christians, will we be convicted? When people who know us or observe us evaluate our Christian life, will they “take note that (we) have been with Jesus” (cf. Acts 4:13). In fact, today, do we want to be known as Christians? Or do we feel more comfortable to be mere Sunday Churchtians? When a person becomes a Christian he or she is called by God to live a life that is God-honoring in everything, everywhere and every time. A Christian is redeemed to be recruited in Christ’s service. Os Guinness devoted a whole book to the study of the Christian calling. Let me oversimplify the concept: every person is primarily called to Someone – to a relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord ; secondarily, to something – to a gift-based profession or vocation; and thirdly, to somewhere – the place of vocation or work as His witness. Fyodor Doestoevsky wrote, “for the secret of man’s being is not only to live … but to live for something definite.” Danish Philosopher-Theologian Soren Kierkegaard spoke of calling as “the idea – the truth – that one will live and die for.” When we live life in the center of God’s calling, we will enjoy His good plan and promised abundant life Our calling is our destiny. It will end our restless quest for meaning and purpose in life. Are you fulfilling God’s calling for your life? The beauty queen revealed her delight as she will be active again in showbiz with hosting stints and soap opera roles. “Masaya akong nagbabalik dahil I’ve grown so much as a person, as an artist, and now nandito na ulit ako, I can offer the people a better version of myself,” claims Megan. [I’m happy to be back because I’ve grown so much as a person, as an artist, and now that I’m back, I can offer the people a better version of myself.] Megan also talked about her relationship with fellow artists and staff, and how she misses most of those who have supported her from the start of her career. She also mentioned that she wants to go back to acting, “Namiss ko rin ang pag-act, kasi sa Miss World,

ARTISTA WINNIPEG APRIL 2015 ISSUE

[I missed this because in Miss World, you’re not “acting.” I stopped for one and a half years because my concentration was focused on Miss World. But now that I’ve returned, I have to prepare myself again for acting because I was gone for a long time.] During the contract signing held at the Boardroom of GMA Network, Atty. Gozon expressed his genuine support for Megan, “We are very glad and proud and honoured na tayo ang

pinili ni Miss World. So we are lining up many things for Megan to do.” [We are very glad and proud and honoured that Miss World chose GMA. No matter where she goes, her heart is still with the Kapuso Network. And our hearts are with her as well. So we are lining up many things for Megan to do.”] Mr. Duavit, in turn, shared that he is both glad and excited now that Megan is back with the Kapuso Network, “Nakakatuwa kapag ang isang nagsimula bilang Kapuso ay nagbabalik bilang Kapuso. And in Megan’s case, sa mga dumaang panahon, bukod sa Miss World, she also embodies or

personifies certain values that are consistent with ours. So we’re very excited. Megan is versatile, she’s very professional at meron ng mga nakahanay na mga proyekto para sa kanya. So, welcome back kapuso, we’re all very proud of you. And very happy you’re back home.” [It is heartwarming when one starts out as a Kapuso and returns as a Kapuso. And in Megan’s case, in the time that has passed, aside from Miss World, she also embodies or personifies certain values that are consistent with ours. So we’re very excited. Megan is versatile, she’s very professional and we’ve already lined up projects for her. So welcome back, Kapuso, we’re all very proud of you. And very happy you’re back home.”] Rasonable revealed some of Megan’s upcoming projects this year, “She will be cohosting StarStruck with Dingdong Dantes, so that’s the first big project. And then there’s another one coming up. It’s a big primetime soap, but we’ll announce it when the time comes.”

Toni Gonzaga answers question regarding prenuptial agreement with Paul Soriano

by: Maureen Marie Belmonte

ctress-host Toni Gonzaga claims that she never thought of having a prenuptial agreement with her soonto-be husband Paul Soriano. In an interview during The Buzz on Sunday, Toni admitted that she has been asked about it previously.

run iniisip mo na baka in future baka maghiwalay kami so kailangan sakin ang pera ko. ‘Yung security mo nasa pera, wala doon sa tao. So I’d rather put my faith in God and to the person I’m marrying and keep on praying that it will work forever,” she further explained. Has she talked about it

“Actually nung tinanong sakin ‘yan tsaka ako napaisip. Sabi ko ‘Ay mag-pe-prenup ba? Dapat ba may ganon talaga?’ Kasi iniisip ko hindi naman ako mga Zobel, mga Ayala to do prenup. Normal lang naman ako, kung ano ang meron ako pinaghirapan ko,” she said. According to Toni, she has a different way of looking at marriage which is why she never considered the idea of prenup agreement. “Siguro ang program ko kasi sa pag-aasawa, once you get into a relationship and once you get into the commitment that you want to be together forever you will try your very best to make it work,” she said. “So, ‘yung sa akin kapag nagpe-prenup ka parang in the long

with her fiancé Paul Soriano? “Never, never. Hindi ko naisip ‘yun,” the You’re My Boss actress said. Although she has yet to announce her wedding date, host Boy Abunda asked Toni what would be the most precious gift that she could give Paul which she replied with “myself.” When asked if this meant her virginity, Toni explained, “Myself, myself. Malalaman niyo pagkatapos ng ‘I Do.’” Toni has long been ranked among the stars who have vowed to not engage in pre-marital sex.

‘Tadhana’ director Antoinette Jadaone, Coco Martin & Toni Gonzaga score big with “You’re My Boss” TFC@theMovies brings the current number one Filipino romantic comedy this April to US, Canada, Italy, Denmark, Norway, Spain, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, Singapore, Japan, Australia & New Zealand

R

EDWOOD SHORES, CA, April 8, 2015 – Even for her first major studio film under ABS-CBN Star Cinema, white-hot independent Filipino film writerdirector Antoniette Jadaone, who is coming on the heels of the box-office and critical success of her “That Thing Called Tadhana”, was willing to take risks. While You’re My Boss - which she also wrote - falls under her solid romantic comedy genre, she took the challenge of directing an untested on-screen partnership in two international Filipino superstars: Coco Martin and Toni Gonzaga. The result? You’re My Bosshas grossed Php65 million in just three days of showing in the Philippines. The film opened on Black Saturday, went head-tohead and toe-to-toe with powerhouse Hollywood movies like “Fast and Furious 7”, and more than held its own at the box office. TFC@theMovies is bringing this latest rom-com blockbuster to U.S. and Canada starting April 10; Milan and Rome, Italy and Copenhagen, Denmark on April 12; Paris, France on April 12-19; UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman in the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand on April 16; Vienna, Austria on April 18-19; Madrid, Spain on April 19 and TBD in Oslo, Norway; and Athens, Greece, Singapore and Japan on April 26. You’re My Bossis far from just being your usual case of rich girl-poor boy, love-hate storyline. It’s a role reversal for the characters of Pong (Martin) who is the humble assistant of Georgina, an alpha female of a boss. When Sir Albert (Freddie Webb), their company’s Chief Commercial Officer, goes on sabbatical, he assigns a very important deal to be handled by Georgina. When she meets with the client, Mr. Najimoto, the latter refuses to discuss business with anyone face-to-face except with the head honcho. Enter clueless Pong who Georgina conveniently introduces, under pretense, as the boss. Thus, the deal is on with Mr. Najimoto,

and so is the make-believe arrangement between Pong and Georgina. Fans and critics rave over the steady story-telling of Jadaone and the on-screen chemistry between Martin and Gonzaga as their characters adjust to their new situation: “ Wi t h a script by Jadaone & Yoshke Dimen, this movie is filled with witty, quotable dialogue in relatable situtations, which isn’t surprising. It can be snarky, just like Georgina’s initial interactions with Pong. It can be sweet, just like Georgina’s interactions

with Pong as they start to get to know each other. What it ISN’T is unfunny, bland, or just plain terrible.” - Kieff Iporac, TheTalkingSign.com “The film’s greatest strength is its focus. Once the two main characters are put together, there’s hardly a scene where they are apart. They interact with each other almost exclusively, the film giving them time to develop something meaningful.” - Philbert Ortiz, ClickTheCity.com “You’re My Boss proposes that this extraordinary circumstance of a lie... is the Page 22 pls.

Even with a lot of celebrity couples deciding to tie the knot in recent months, Alex said she is not bothered to have an inactive love life. “Wala ata eh. Okay lang yun. I’m just loving life. That’s my love life. I love life! Ganun eh, kasi hin-

Nabuhay ka nga ng 364 days ng wala kang love life so ang isang araw wala yun,” she said.

For Alex, her number one priority right now is her blossoming career. “Every project is a dream come true kasi you’ll never know kung hanggang kailan ka dito sa show business. And as long asbinibigyan ka ng trabaho you always feel special and parang you have the reason to stay so lagi nagpapasalamat ka sa lahat ng ibinibigay,” she said.

Very professional,” sey pa ni Zoren.

Robin Padilla says wife Mariel is devastated with the miscarriage because they’re ready for a baby Con’t. from page 22. maging saemotional well-being nito.

kaanak pa silang muli, “Pwede pa nga, sabi ng duktor niya tanggalin na lang natin yan and do a lot of sex. Well, hindi eh.” ARTISTA WINNIPEG aPRIL 2015 ISSUE
