"Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." - Henry Ward Beecher

Introduction “At first, art imitates life. Then life will imitate art. Then life will find its very existence from the arts”. - Fyodor Dostoevsky

Art is a manifestation of creativity, capturing and reproducing thoughts, fantasies, and reality. It is a unique way of expressing one's emotions, values, spiritualism, struggles and hopes. Art is diverse: it gives a person the opportunity to observe the world from different points of view, to understand society today and throughout history. Trends in art range immensely, from realism to abstractionism, as each generation enriches it and contributes to its development. Artios Gallery prides itself on selecting high-quality, exceptionally talented artists whose unique vision shapes contemporary art landscape. This catalog showcases the portfolio of 356 works, including oil and acrylic paintings, prints, photographs, and digital art.

Alexander Dudorov Alexander Dudorov was born in 1963 and graduated from the Polytechnic University of Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Since childhood, he has been fond of music, literature, and art. Presently, Dudorov is a member of a prestigious association, the Union of Artists of Russia, and has had eight personal exhibitions. Many of his works are held in museums throughout Russia, and hundreds of his paintings are in private collections worldwide. Alexander was a finalist at the International Art Festival in New York in 2014 and 2015. He focuses on searching for natural beauty in the world - the light northern sky and the sensation of cleanliness that a frosty winter brings; the barely perceptible but distinct smell of freshly mowed grass; the harmony of solemn St. Petersburg architecture; surreal trams running through the rain; and flowers, so loved by him. Dudorov carefully peers into details, trying not to miss any part of life with metaphysical tendencies. This approach gives freedom to his emotions, revealing a path to extreme clarity. It’s difficult to breathe life into a picture, which only an artist with a divine gift can do. The form, color, texture, touch, and light in a harmonious combination generate the necessary degree of authenticity in Alexander’s art.

Anya Rubin Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Anya emigrated with her family at a young age, first moving to Israel and then Germany before finally settling in New York in the mid-’70s. She has lived there ever since. Working in oil and digital rendering, Anya reflects upon contemporary culture’s social, political, and spiritual conditions, capturing the essence of a reality where everything is interconnected. Information is available at the exact moment an event occurs. In her most recent series of oil paintings, Anya’s portraiture explores the idea of self-representation and its distorted reality, especially concerning society’s narcissistic obsession with social media and selfies. Utilizing a visual language that depicts human interdependence, she defines a world where the individual human psyche is in constant motion with all others. She creates an environment where foreground and background are inseparable, containing social, political, economic, and emotional events. Figures and objects are woven into a tableau with moments of life layered one over the other — shifting and responding and inextricably linked. Anya has exhibited extensively throughout the US and Europe. She has enjoyed several solo exhibitions in New York City and Miami since 2004. Her works have been recognized with many prizes and awards, including Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli prizes in Florence, Italy (2016 and 2015, respectively) and many others.

Costa Gorelov Russian artist Constantin (Costa) Gorelov received his formal education from the Moscow Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting in film (cinema) directing. He works as an artist, director, TV production designer, and fashion stylist. In his works, Constantin explores people’s feelings and psychological state, often depicting them through the interaction of the figure with space, items, and fashion. The last attribute is paramount to the artist’s self-expression. It is also a symbol linking epochs, times, and traditions. In his paintings, the artist primarily uses the wave technique of drawing with transparent oil to balance lucidity and color brightness. Shadows and halftones of internal lines produce smoothness of color transitions. Constantin then dilutes them with varnish and leaves only the colored surface. He uses the superposition of transparent colors on top of each other, adding new shades in each new layer to give them character and achieve depth. Constantin is a member of the Circle Foundation for the Arts. He received the Honored Artist Certificate in the “Artist of the Year 2020” contest conducted by this organization. He has participated in numerous exhibitions. One of his paintings, “Something About The Sea Locked Up,” is in the permanent collection at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia.

Cecil W. Lee Cecil W. Lee is a New York-born self-taught photographer and computer artist. A Harlem native was influenced by his father, an amateur photographer. Lee purchased his first camera at eighteen years of age. He has had short stints in publishing and print production before becoming a television studio camera operator and acquiring his first computer in the late 1980s. Lee’s first digital approach to art was the “BASIC” programming language, which he used to create what would now seem to be rudimentary art. By the late 1990s, the artist utilized drawing software to alter scanned images of his paintings and photographs. As his skills improved, Lee began taking freelance jobs as a photo restorer and eventually worked as a computer instructor for the NYC Board of Education. Over time, the artist has developed a unique perspective he calls a “Computer-Evolved Art.” CEA is best described as the process of combining photography, scanned images, and digital paintings/drawings with image manipulation software to create original works of art.

Elena Zelenina A Russian-born Elena Zelenina grew up in the studios of two artists, M.Biryukov (1926-1995), her stepfather and Godfather, and N.Gladkih (1927-1995), her uncle. Spending summers by the sea watching her uncle painting with all shades of blue and green, or being in the studio alongside her stepfather to a great extent shaped Elena’s artistic vision. Both, her uncle and her stepfather, magnified the beauty of the real world, whereas Elena often paints the inexplicit reality. For years Elena wondered who she was as an artist. She met her creative destiny while traveling through India, surrounded by vibrant ineffable colors of this vast country. In 2008, while trekking the Himalayan Mountains, she stood above the clouds in complete awe of the place and the creation. At that moment, Elena felt as though a shock wave had gone through her body that allowed her to feel and realize her potential as an artist. Exploring India became her new journey. The music, the food, the spirit were almost addictive. As she went deeper into herself, Elena felt the craving to come back again and again. During her travels, Elena discovered the navigation map of the Creative Spirit, Vedic Art. In 2013, she became a certified Vedic Art Instructor, which revealed her true purpose. Elena’s identity as an artist is to help others experience the state of Oneness and realize their highest potential, the concepts she explores at length in her book “Art Completes You. Transformation through Art and The Science of Completion.”

Hector Acevedo Peruvian artist Hector Acevedo studied drawing and painting at the Advanced Autonomous School of Fine Arts (Escuela Nacional Superior Autónoma de Bellas Artes del Peru - ENSABAP), Peru. At the same time, he continued his civil engineering studies at the National University of Engineering, Lima, Peru. Both majors involved a particular set of skills that helped Hector to shape his life perspective as a future artist. Between the demands of engineering studies and his passionate commitment to art, Hector chose to work in the field of fine arts, where he found his true satisfaction. The artist has developed his distinctive style using elements of symbolism and surrealism; he creates dream-like paintings, often containing images of long-necked women, horses, and fishes. The Peruvian art historian, Yessica Hernandez, said about Hector’s works, “In his compositions, the spaces are fragmented and reach their fertile moment in the geometric direction of light. The artist proposes a narrative tour of the work by directing the viewer’s gaze; light becomes the path that then frames synthetically represented houses and human figures with suppressed mouths and gazes that stand in a seductive, front and footing way, on top of endless feminine necks modeled by lines that form curves.” Hector has participated in many solo and group exhibitions in his native Peru and beyond. The artist has numerous awards and distinctions; top places in the Ninth and Eighth National Coca Cola Painting Contest, Peru, and several Honorable Mentions in various art competitions and exhibitions, among many others. His works are in private collections in Peru and other countries.

Jack Caserta Jack Caserta is an emerging artist originally from Connecticut, now living in Charleston, South Carolina. Formally trained in art at the College of Charleston, SC, he now devotes full time to his artistic career. Jack developed a "pluralistic practice" working in different styles and mediums. His figurative and symbol-laden abstract works use oil and acrylic, punctuated with graphic lines of pastel or Krink marker. By using multiple layers of color and coarse brushwork, Jack likes to explore how a line, a stroke, or a mass of bold color can evoke raw feelings. His process is intuitive, organic, and inventive. Jack says: "I'm constantly experimenting with textures and layers to convey flow & movement. I believe my abstract work is of an expressive language influenced by music, landscapes, stories, and sensations. I take a lot of inspiration from Jean-Michel Basquiat, Willem De Kooning, and Gerhard Richter, to name a few." Jack has participated in many local exhibitions. Most notable was Pequot Library's WET PAINT art show in 2018, where he won top honors and was awarded a month-long solo exhibition in the Summer of 2019. His works were included in the 69th AONE Art Exhibition at Silvermine Gallery, CT, Fall, 2019. Jack's paintings are in private collections in South Carolina and Connecticut. Juan Francisco Gomez Cambronero Born in Madrid, Spain, residing in Damiel, Cuidad Real, in La Mancha, Juan Francisco Gómez-Cambronero is a professional civil engineer. However, from the moment he could hold a paintbrush, Juan Francisco showed great talent. Being raised in a family-oriented environment gave uniqueness to his paintings. Today, the artist has emerged with his individual, instantly recognizable style. Pictorial realism appeals the most to the artistic vision of Juan Francisco. Nevertheless, he doesn’t object to merging that style with figurative expressionism, characteristic of his creative personality. The ability to generate questions in the observer is a foundation of his individuality as an artist. here are no challenges from which the artist backs down. In fact, he doesn’t wait; he looks for them. Juan Francisco is not intimidated by any theme, T from the Manchego traditions to the most modern urban settings, from the celebrations to the retreat, from the chaotic to the serene. His art is dynamic, like the raindrops on the pavement. It resonates like a child unaffected by life’s troubles, like a prayer echoing from a mosque lost in a silent street. Gómez-Cambronero accomplishes what artists strive for. He has a way of communicating; he opens up, captures, and achieves it. The result is of high visual impact and dynamic art form. The maturity of his artistic vision has captivated audiences, winning him several awards both nationally and internationally. He has participated in many art exhibitions, illustrated several books, and has accentuated urban spaces with realistic cut sculptures made of iron and copper bars.

Julia Michry The highly detailed and almost ornamental watercolors that Julia Michry produces are rooted in her Russian background. Masters like Victor Vasnetsov, Isaak Levitan and Aleksey Savrasov deeply influenced her work. Julia’s love for art and design started early and by the fourth grade, she was enrolled in an art school for gifted students in Saint Petersburg, Russia. After graduating from high school, Julia studied fashion design at the Saint Petersburg Art and Industry Academy, one of the country’s best art colleges. She continued her studies in America, earning a BA in Graphic Design from New York’s School of Visual Arts. Julia's favorite medium is watercolor because of its transparency and flow of color. Her landscapes bring the outside world in, an idea that gained strength at the beginning of the last century. She strives to bridge the chasm between everyday life and nature. By bringing the beauty of landscape into the forefront, we are reminded to slow down and reconnect with the natural world. In doing so, we tap into our deeper selves. The artist has participated in numerous exhibitions throughout the tri-state area, including two solo exhibitions at Tuxedo Park and Sloatsburg libraries, and the Russian Museum of Modern Art and Pushkin Society Artists Guild group exhibitions in New York City in 2017 and 2018. Julia also participated in several national and international art festivals as well as competitions. Most notably, at the St. Catherine of Bologna 19th Annual Photography, Art and Poetry Exhibition, three of her works swept Judge’s choice, 1st and 2nd places in March 2019.

Katsura Okada Katsura Okada was born in Tokyo, Japan. She attended Sokei Academy of Fine Art & Design and has a Master of Japanese Calligraphy Arts from the Tokyo Academy of Calligraphy Art. Katsura utilizes powdered golden pigments, ink and natural liquid adhesive on handmade paper to produce her unique lightweight paintings. Says the artist: “For this new Flecks of Shine series, I’ve created my own technique of painting tiny dots in gold; after undergoing a special process, the pigment’s texture and flecks are permanently fixed in gold. Every tiny part, every groove reflects the light, amplifying its natural beauty”. Since 1990, Okada’s work has been shown extensively worldwide, including in many European countries, Mexico, Canada and the United States. She has exhibited in a number of galleries in Brooklyn and NYC, including A.I.R. Gallery, Black and White Gallery, Columbia and Marymount Manhattan Colleges among others. Marina Kalinovsky Marina was born in the former Soviet Union. She received art education in St. Petersburg (formerly Leningrad). Since 1989 she has lived in New York, USA. Marina’s father, a historian, was responsible for the restoration of a museum of archeology and history in a small town near St. Petersburg. The museum was her second home. That dilapidated yet enchanted place, with Greek amphorae and medieval armor, still inspires many of her paintings and drawings. The images are often provoked by a combination of colors or the beauty of a gesture. She believes there is hidden magic in everyday life. Even the most simple chores and movements that have been performed by a myriad of people have gained an eternal status. As each image has reflections, one can peel them endlessly, layer by layer. The artist’s dreamy, almost icon-like paintings radiate perpetual peace and harmony.

MARÖ Marö is a New York-based artist with European roots. Initially trained in classical figurative painting and focusing on oil on canvas, she began her artistic career with a lot of travel, visiting world-famous galleries, and copying the old masters. While developing her own style, she started deviating from figurative painting toward the abstract. She experimented with various approaches and techniques from watercolor to acrylic, from collage to mixed media. While continuing her 2D work, she started exploring different 3D mediums working with marble, bronze, and plaster. Many of her 3D works were developed using recycled materials turning garbage into works of art and saving the planet. Currently, Marö shares her time between New York and France, spending a lot of time in the South of France, working with private collectors and interior decorators.

Philip Mckay Philip Mckay is an award-winning artist from Liverpool, United Kingdom. His mostly black and white photographs are digitally manipulated to create a surreal effect on ordinary objects inserted in an unexpected setting. Beautiful and expressive images evoke a mood of seclusion and contemplation. They challenge the viewers’ immediate perception of reality. Just as Rene Magritte and Storm Thorgerson, the artists that inspired him, Philip creates fascinating scenery that is simultaneously aesthetically pleasing and thought-provoking. The artist’s journey into digital art started over 18 years ago. His works quickly gained prominence in his native Liverpool when he was invited to exhibit in the “Thoughts and Pictures” group show at the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge. In the following years, the interest in his art grew, and Philip was interviewed by various art publications and commissioned to design several book covers. Among notable collaborations in recent years is the artist’s work with Michael Price, the British composer who created music for such blockbusters as Lord of the Ring and Quantum of Solace, among many others. Mckay designed several of the composer’s album covers. The most recent exhibitions and awards include the Gold Award at the Tokyo International Art Show ( Japan, 2020) and Artbox Project at Wynwood Gallery (Miami, USA, 2019). Philip’s works are in private collections throughout the UK and other European countries.

Sanne Rasmussen Danish artist Sanne Rasmussen came to the art scene after a 20-year career in the financial sector. She attended the Artschool Spektrum in Copenhagen, Denmark. For several years, she was a pupil at Daniel Goldenberg’s private studio, also in Copenhagen. Sanne’s art is often based on situations from everyday life, depicting people on the street of a big city or in the confined space of a cozy café. The artist tries to capture a moment frozen in the midst of the city’s hectic pulse. It could be in Copenhagen, London, Paris, or maybe a fictional place in the world. Sanne’s artworks convey her fascination with the city and its dwellers. The artist works mostly in oil on canvas, usually only with 5-6 colors. The interplay of light and shadow gives life and movement to her paintings, but at the same time emanates calm and harmony, where the viewer is offered an inner dialogue with the work. The artist often mixes figurative and abstract styles to highlight the paintings’ central motif. In recent years, Sanne has participated in many international group exhibitions and held several solo shows. Her paintings are in public and private collections in Denmark, other European countries, and the US.
