The Premier’s VCE Awards were held on Thursday, 27 July, at the Melbourne Convention Centre. This prestigious awards ceremony recognises students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE).

A total of 300 awards, including the Top All-Round VCE High Achiever Awards, recognised the exceptional dedication and hard work of 34 students during the 2023 VCE.

The Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) manages the eligibility and selection of award recipients for the Premier’s VCE Awards, which confers awards in three award categories:

• Top All-Round VCE High Achiever

• Top Three International Students

• Study Awards

This year Heather Sutherland (OC’22) was recognised as a Top All-Round VCE High Achiever and was also recognised with a study award in Psychology and English Language. Attending the awards ceremony was Ms Monagle, Heather’s English Language teacher. Heather, currently studying at the Univerity of Melbourne, reflected fondly on the support provided by her teachers, in particular Ms Monagle.

In addition to Heather, Edward Clough and Julia Smith, current students were also recognised.

Edward was recognised as a study award recipient for Software Development. Edward was one of three students recognised in this subject. Mr Clissold was very proud of Edward’s achievements but was unable to attend the ceremony.

Julia, also one of our 2023 College Captains, was recognised as a study award winner in Biology. Julia was one of nine students recognised. Julia and Edward, both current Year 12 students, reflected on their teachers and the hard work they did.

We are extremely proud of our Braemarians, who all worked extremely hard to achieve these results. We are grateful to the teachers and leaders who supported them on their journey.
