Trips
from Issue 5 2023
The College has been engaging in interstate and overseas extra-curricular programs for many years. The programs have supported exchange opportunities with Tokai City (Japan) through to cycling Victorian roads as part of the Great Victorian Bike Ride to working at a small village school in Ghat (Nepal) before trekking to Everest Base Camp as part of the Schoolies
Alternative program. The focus of these trips has been to expand horizons, increase personal challenge and provide service to others.
The range of extra-curricular trips will be expanding in 2024. In addition to our current range of programs which include Lilla (Northern Territory), Cambodia, Great Victorian Bike Ride and Nepal, we anticipate a return to Japan, with conversations already commenced to host touring Japanese students in 2024 before we travel to Tokai.
The Languages team are exploring opportunities to support our language learners who, from past experiences, have benefitted from interactions with native language speakers.
Finally, we are excited to announce that our team in the Visual and Performing Arts area have organised an art-based experience in Italy. This program intends to explore the art and cultural basis of Italy from Venice to Rome, including an experience at the X Campus of Monash.
We looking forward to seeing these trips in 2024 become a reality, and I am grateful to the staff who are coordinating with the various organisations to make them a reality.
