El arte, ancestral vehículo privilegiado del ser humano para expresar y transmitir sentimientos, percepciones, sensaciones, emociones y estados de ánimo, en suma la VIDA, siempre nos sorprende. El observador no puede quedar pasivo, siempre tendrá una respuesta, sea esta de aceptación o rechazo, porque la producción artística lo interpela y lo confronta con sus propias emociones o vivencias o, permite que afloren emociones nuevas, a veces desconocidas. ¿Qué posee el arte que nos interpela? ¿Por qué no podemos quedar indiferentes ante su presencia? Existen múltiples, innumerables y variadas respuestas. Cada quien encontrará la suya porque el arte es catarsis, memoria, dolor y alegría, esto y más es lo que tratan de transmitir nuestros jóvenes estudiantes de 2do. año del PD a través de sus creaciones artísticas: Diego Pacheco, Maira Quispe, Carlos Sánchez, Fiorella Vargas, Bianca Villena y Victoria Zapata expresan mucho de su mundo interior en sus obras. Bianca nos muestra una profunda introspección; Carlos, miradas compasivas; Diego la actitud del que no desea ser visto; Fiorella y Mayra cierta sensación de soledad y tristeza; Victoria preocupación y pesar por el futuro del planeta.
Art, ancestral privileged vehicle of the human being to express and transmit feelings, perceptions, sensations, emotions and states of mind, in short, LIFE, always surprises us. The observer cannot remain passive, he will always have a reaction, either acceptance or rejection, because artistic production challenges and confronts him with his own emotions or experiences or allows new, sometimes unknown emotions to surface. What does art possess that challenges us? Why can't we be indifferent to their presence? There are multiple, innumerable and varied answers. Everyone will find theirs because art is catharsis, memory, pain and joy, this and more is what our young 2nd graders of the IBDP try to convey through their artistic creations: Diego Pacheco, Maira Quispe, Carlos Sánchez, Fiorella Vargas, Bianca Villena and Victoria Zapata express much of their inner world in their works. Bianca shows us deep introspection; Carlos, compassionate looks; Diego the attitude of the one who does not want to be seen; Fiorella and Maira a certain feeling of loneliness and sadness; Victoria concern and regret for the future of the planet.

Los estudiantes de Artes Visuales del Programa del Diploma del Bachillerato Internacional en nuestro colegio desarrollan la capacidad de apreciar la diversidad expresiva y estética del mundo que los rodea, convirtiéndose así en creadores, conocedores y críticos de la cultura visual. En nuestro primer año hemos tenido visitas a galerías de arte, museos y espacios culturales de nuestra ciudad que complementaron su formación académica y cultural, pero este año desde que comenzó nuestras clases virtuales hemos logrado superar barreras, desde cómo realizar las técnicas en clase, visitar galerías virtuales, observar obras de arte y hasta exponer nuestros trabajos. Ahora sus casas se convirtieron en el taller, tal vez un pequeño espacio, pero muy significativo para poder ser creativos. Este catálogo muestra obras con un contenido visual y conceptual de cada alumno, podemos apreciar técnicas como la ilustración, la pintura, fotografías y videos, que con mucho esfuerzo y compromiso han elaborado, a través de la nueva virtualidad que nos tocó vivir.
The Visual Arts students of the International Baccalauréate Diploma Program at our school develop the ability to appreciate the expressive and an esthetic diversity of the world around them, thus becoming creators, connoisseurs and critics of visual culture. During our first year we had visits to art galleries, museums and cultural spaces in our city that complemented their academic and cultural training, but this year since our virtual classes began we have managed to overcome barriers, from how to perform the techniques in class, visit virtual galleries, observe works of art to even exhibit our work. Now their houses became the workshop, perhaps a small space, but very significant to be creative. This catalog shows works with a visual and conceptual content of each student, we can appreciate techniques such as illustration, painting, photographs and videos, which have been developed with a lot of effort and commitment, through the new virtuality that we had to live.
