Foster+Partners is an international studio for architecture, engineering and design, led by Founder and Chairman Norman Foster and a Partnership Board. Founded in 1967, the practice is characterised by its integrated approach to design, bringing together the depth of resources required to take on some of the most complex projects in the world. They have always had a strong interest in the making of things as an integral part of the design process, rooted in what they believe is a duty to design well and responsibly, whether that is at the scale of an airport or a door handle.

The practice has never drawn a distinction between architecture and industrial design. The point of contact, the thing that you touch, is as important as the broader vision. The industrial design team established in 1980, has developed a wide range of products from door handles to wind turbines; from a fountain pen to the cabin of an executive jet; from a tap to the fit-out of an ocean yacht. Frequently, products are designed in response to a particular project, but they also work directly with clients on product commissions or with companies to develop new products for commercial manufacture.

Hoy is a system of adjustable spotlights with a basic shape, yet a rich performance. A simple cylinder protrudes from the surface with varying heights for the different versions (recessed, semi-recessed, SMD, track).

Its volume is divided to direct emission in space, the mobile part hosts to the source and the optical devices required to produce four different beam angles (13°, 24°, 48°, 68°).

Hoy Node System

Node is a fully co-ordinated building system, produced by PARC - Price Industries, that allows for more visually appealing and functional spaces. Its conception elevates a long-overlooked, yet vitally important aspect of building design to the level it deserves.

Setting out a unique creative approach to this challenge, Node emerged from a desire to produce a fully coordinated family of devices, interfaces, tracks, channels and networks that can be used in any kind of building to harmonise building services with the overall aesthetic of the project. Each element shares the same visual characteristics – size, shape and materials, while also being able to communicate with one another, reducing technical conflicts and multiple control systems.

Devices such as sprinklers, speakers, occupancy sensors, cameras and lights are designed as a family of circular nodes, which then can be surface mounted or flush with the ceiling, with or without a trim. The multiple combinations allow designers to achieve the desired aesthetic, with interfaces that are specifically designed to adapt to different ceiling types: from plaster and metal to timber and fabric. The same devices and network can also be used across different ceiling types within the same building.

The system can be adapted to existing structures as well as new buildings. Purpose-built tracks allow lighting, cameras and other services to be suspended at the desired height, eliminating the need to interfere with the existing structure, while channels allow Node devices to be configured in a recess, integrating different services into a single spine that can bridge a large span. Incorporating smart cable management and discreetly integrating HVAC diffusers, the channels have interchangeable side profiles that can be used with a range of ceiling types.
