Over many years of polar travel and exploration Richard has amassed a world class collection of books on Antarctica, the expeditions relating to it and the ‘Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration’. His long history of exploration includes climbing and skiing in the New Zealand mountains and the Himalayas as well as expeditions to the Antarctic and Sub-Antarctic Islands. Richard has also been a member of several international and commemorative expeditions to the Polar regions. Art+Object is delighted to offer the Richard Reaney Collection. Highlights of this important sale include The extremely rare first edition of Shackleton’s ‘Aurora Australis’ published and printed in Antarctica at Cape Royds during the Nimrod Expedition of 1907-1909, while wintering in their hut.
