have always been an admirer of women leaders. I admire and adore my very own mother. Now, I remember one statement from the “Iron Lady” herself, then, British PM Margaret Thatcher uttered and delivered years ago and I quote: “You turn if you want to. The Lady is not for turning”. For many years and until today this has been one of my guiding principles...Inspiring and still relevant, indeed, as we celebrate the International Women’s Day earlier this month, a testimony on how women have evolved over the turn of centuries. To all the Filipino women out there, let us celebrate our roles and contributions, however humble, wherever we maybe around the world. Let us not be afraid of the challenges ahead and let us continue to make a difference...as women and as Filipinos. Thank you so much for making the maiden issue of Bagong Bayani a huge success. We are grateful for the overwhelming and heartbreaking support that we have received not only from our brothers and sisters in Singapore, from our friends in the Philippines, but also from our fellow Overseas Filipino Workers from around the world.
