The Charity Christmas Concert ter Wheatsheaf Singers and supported by The Co-op on Saturday 17th December 2022 at Doncaster Minster was once again a huge success. The concert once again featured performances by The Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers and Hatfield & Askern Colliery Band with The 20ft live Minster Christmas Tree creating a wonderful backdrop. The performers, The Minster staff, Co-op Food, Funeralcare and our local Co-op Member Pioneers all worked together both before the event and on the night to provide a wonderful evening's entertainment which also included refreshments during the interval. The refreshments and raffle prizes were once again provided and served by our local Coop stores and their staff. This was yet again a fantastic turnout by the people of Doncaster to support a great cause, Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust which last year celebrated their 50th Anniversary year. Proceeds from the concert and the amazing Memory Christmas tree in the Minster (which was also donated by Doncaster Coop Funeralcare) raised £1500 and a cheque was presented to members of the charity in Doncaster Minster on Monday 16th January 2023.

The attached photograph shows just a small number of the volunteers who helped to put the concert together from the choir, Coop store, Coop Funeralcare and membership personnel along with representatives from Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust and the Minster. Dorothy Miller, Chairman of the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers who organised the concert wished to extend her thanks not only to the performers but to all involved in making this event such a highlight of the Christmas celebrations in Doncaster.

Slowly Does It
A V.I.T (Very Important Tortoise) visited Year 2. Taco, ate, drank, took a bath and sprinted across our carpet. Pupils loved seeing Taco loving life in Y2 and respectfully created a quiet and safe environment to observe his movements. A lovely afternoon.

Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust

At the time of writing the sun was shining on a lovely group of snowdrops, a sure sign that Spring was on the way.
We are very pleased to report that we are in the process of buying equipment for the Jasmine Centre at DRI (breast cancer). It is a table and rack which will help the theatre staff during surgery and we have donated £6,250.
Also, as previously mentioned, we are buying another couch for the Urology Department. The price has slightly increased since last month and we will donate £13,667.
We now have a final figure for the money raised by Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers along with the Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band at their annual Christmas concert at the Minster. The total came to £1,500 which included donations from the Minster Memory Tree (kindly provided by Doncaster Co-op Funeralcare). Our very grateful thanks once again to everyone involved.
