May Park’s Easter Egg Hunt -Over 30 baskets were given out to the children.

-Over 500 attendees attended the event.

-Over 10,000 eggs were scattered throughout the gym floor.

Eggs of all different colors, shapes and sizes were scattered throughout the gym floor in preparation for the event.

A massive crowd took their seats to watch in excitement as the children enjoyed the Egg Hunt Festivities.

A Message from Parks Deputy Director, Gary Hegner

Welcome to Spring! It’s April, the Golf Tournament is going full swing (pun intended) and people are enjoying the great weather by utilizing Augusta’s parks. Some of the tasks we are currently working on to make our parks better include pressure washing picnic shelters, performing landscape upgrades at a variety of locations, athletic field maintenance, irrigation system start-ups, weed management…and of course mowing and trimming. Soon staff will be installing a new ‘multi-generational’ swing at Brookfield Park, which will allow both an adult and child to ride together. Look for that in the coming weeks!

It won’t be long until the weather gets hotter, school lets out for the summer and our pools and splash pads will also be operational, along with our various summer camps. We also have a large number of picnic shelter rentals. That’s when our parks get their highest use and have the greatest potential for litter. We want our parks to be in the best possible condition each day. For us to provide the very best in customer service, we sometimes need an extra set of eyes out there. As a citizen/visitor who has an interest in our parks, we want you to know you can contact us if there are problems that may not yet have been addressed. You may contact us to report a problem at our Administration Office at 706.796.5025. Likewise, if you have a question about a specific park, you may contact Gary Hegner, deputy Director for Parks, at 706.842.2680. Happy Spring!

GRPA Maintenance Management School Our Parks Division had two gentlemen Michael Flythe & Christopher Smith to attend a week long GRPA’s Maintenance Management School Conference in Griffin, GA in February.
