Arnprior resident earns top honours in Area 10 humourous speech and evaluation contests EMC lifestyle – Lynne Zander of Arnprior won both humourous speech and evaluation contests in an Area 10 Toastmasters competition in Douglas Sept. 29.

She represented the area at the next level up, the Division B contest on Oct.13 in the Overbrook Community Centre in Ottawa. The winners of Division B is slated to go to

the Fall Conference in Kingston Nov. 16-18. Area 10 covers the five Toastmasters clubs in the area from Deep River to Arnprior.

Toastmasters is a voluntary self-help organization to help its members become better public speakers and leaders. Along the way members

also become better listeners and have a lot of fun with their Toastmaster friends. The humorous speech contest is a great example of that fun and challenges of creating

and presenting speeches. The evaluation contest challenges the ability to provide effective yet friendly feedback to members when they make speeches.
