Top chefs heat things up at Arnprior District High School Community - Grade 10 foods and nutrition students at Arnprior District High School competed for top spots in an Iron Chef competition at the school recently. Students were charged with creating one sweet and one savoury dish using secret ingredients cinnamon and ginger. Judges for the contest were Jordan Sabourin, Tim Stock and instructor Anne Sabourin. Jordan and Tim are from Play, Food and Wine in Ottawa’s Byward Market. WINNERS
Iron Chef ginger winners are: First - Ethan Clark, Amanda Vaughan, Laura Sullivan, Jazmyn Nicholas with savoury recipe: Honey Ginger Chicken Breast with Gingered Vegetable Stir Fry and sweet recipe: Ginger Caramel Apple Pudding. Second - Calli McLachlan, Jordi Reid, Cassidy Judd, Jessica Landon with savoury recipe: Pork Tenderloin with Peach Ginger Chutney and sweet recipe: Gingersnap Apple Crumble.
Third: Taylor Leckie, Shelby MacMillan, Braden Howard, Alexandra Mercer with savoury recipe: Ginger Carrot Soup and sweet recipe: Ginger Sweet Potato Muffin. Iron Chef cinnamon winners are: First - Casey Coady, Lukas Doy-Yat, Liam Jefferies, Cory Bryson with ssavoury recipe: Lychee Glazed Pork Tenderloin and sweet recipe: Apple Cinnamon Bread Pudding.
