Top 5 gems to discover in Warwick 1. FIVE GREAT WALKS OF WARWICK THE CBD Walk, Railway Walk, Dairy Walk, Weewondilla Hill Walk and The River Walk. Take a self-guided history tour of the CBD or wander along the reaches of the Condamine River to the flood marker next to the car park just off the highway. Head to the town hall, chat to the friendly volunteers at the Visitor Information Centre, grab a Five Walks map and get exploring. 2. SCULPTURES EVERYWHERE THEY’RE in parks and public areas throughout the region, so get out and admire the unique granite and sandstone sculptures. Particularly impressive are the portraits of Patrick and Kate Leslie chiselled into gigantic boulders at Leslie Dam. Also standing proud is the TJ Byrnes statue at the Palmerin and Grafton St intersection. The former Queensland premier was born in Warwick. Another icon is Tiddalik, the mythical frog. Locals know if Tiddalik goes under water, they’re in for a big flood.
3. QUEEN MARY FALLS THE majestic Queen Mary Falls is a sight to behold. Enjoy the view from the top or take the path down to the bottom of the falls and sit in the cool, lush rainforest surrounds. Make sure you take your camera and then when you’re done, stop at the kiosk across the road from the car park. You can buy some seeds and feed the birds – you’ll be sure to make plenty of new feathery friends. 4. LET YOUR CHILDREN RUN WILD WARWICK’S Australiana Park features a 30m flying fox – a hit with youngsters. Leslie Park is home to a youth space and two playgrounds, while Queens Park features exercise equipment near the OO Madsen Bridge and a skate park near the River Walk. 5. HISTORIC SANDSTONE BUILDINGS WITH most dating to the late-1800s, take in a little history with a walk through Warwick. Gems to take a closer look at include St Mary’s Church, the town hall, the courthouse and police station, Masonic Temple, Warwick Railway Station and many more.
