Thank you John
Arlesey say’s Thank You John..
Lifelong Arlesey resident John Savory will be a familiar face to everyone in the village, renowned for his incredible efforts in keeping the village in tip top condition. Usually found armed with a litter picker and a few bags of rubbish, there is very little John can’t tell you about the issues that Arlesey face when it comes to keeping the village litter free.

Recently, local residents decided that John’s efforts deserved some well needed recognition and together with the power of a local social media site, set up a fundraising page through which residents could make donations to thank John for his continued hard work.
One of the organisers Gary Wijsveld told the Arlesey News Magazine how he felt compelled to help in the efforts to give back to John on behalf of Arlesey residents. “I used to see John on his usual route most days and often marvelled at how hard he worked keeping our village tidy. ” “It has been an absolute pleasure to be able to reward John and his family with a very small token of our appreciation. ”
Over £1000 was raised by local residents and was presented to John alongside a certificate designed by Sarah Colley for him to keep as a momento. As was expected, John was incredibly overwhelmed at the kindness and generosity shown by Arlesey residents (you can see John’s letter of thanks on our letters page this month.)
Congratulations to John and also to the community of Arlesey for showing such incredible community spirit to one of Arlesey’s finest - keep up the great work John, it is obvious that it is very much appreciated!
