News from St Peter’s Church
February is here and we look forward to spring. In the churchyard we will be watching out for the snowdrops, aconites and violets to pop their shoots through the soil. The churchyard is also full of wild life, birds, bees, small bugs of all kinds and as it warms up butterflies and moths. So do come and stroll through and see what you can find as Spring approaches. Although you never know we might still be in the grips of winter! If we are, take that stroll and then come into the church to warm up,. On our activities table you will find some books about wildlife, which might help you to identify what you could see in the churchyard. A jigsaw always on the go and some colouring activities for children, grown ups can colour too! The church is always open from 9am – 5pm, and there are books to read in the “Book Nook” , or you can sit and be quiet or chat to anyone else who may pop in. Services continue at the times below and we welcome visiting clergy to help during the vacancy. Everyone is welcome. Thank you to everyone who entered trees in the Christmas Tree Festival, all those who came to visit and the army of volunteers who worked so hard over the weekend. The winning tree was from Chase House, congratulations to them. Thank you to Gill, Sue and Jackie for a great concert a musical feast of music. It was lovely to see so many children at the Crib Service and all the people who came to Midnight mass. Our thanks to the Revd. Amanda Ferris who came to take this special celebration of the Birth of Christ.
My personal thanks to those who voted for me as “Christmas Hero 2022” . I was very touched by the award and would like to pay tribute the team I work with at St. Peter’s. Also a big thank you to Satchell’s for the superb hamper, filled with delightful goodies.
