Academic Advising, Sturgis Academic Advising Center Rothwell Building, Suite 107 479-964-0843 Marika Lederman, Director, mlederman@atu.edu http://www.atu.edu/advising/ The Sturgis Academic Advising Center (AAC) provides academic advising to all first-time entering freshmen through a summer registration program. The professional advisors in the AAC will continue to advise all main campus freshmen students (excluding the College of Professional Studies) through the semester in which they will earn approximately sixty (60) credit hours. An advisor located in the AAC meets with newly admitted transfer and returning students who are undeclared and need additional guidance in selecting a major. All newly admitted transfer and returning students who have declared a major will be advised through the appropriate academic department. Students seeking only an associate degree will be advised by the department after their first advising appointment with the AAC. The AAC will continue to advise students who are seeking an associate in conjunction with a bachelor degree until approximately 60 hours. The AAC will continue advising students who are seeking the Associate of Arts in General Education. The AAC contacts “at risk students through an Academic Early Warning program, and is the liaison between faculty, advisor assignments, and student records. Academic advising appointments may be scheduled Monday-Friday during general office hours.
